yeah that price is rediculous, but for an unrestored bike id buy it just to have it for my collection, 123456q the boots were axle protectors back in the day, the only reason i know that is because i have a clymer manual for the 81-82 and they show some aftermarket parts in the back of the book, those axle covers are in there..

There was a first gen that looked just as clean (sans head) in the Alton/East STL area for $1500. Been there forever and i think they quit listing it. No one is paying for 1st and 2nd gen R's yet.

I would pay decently for a nice first gen, not that much of course, been looking for a while though but they dont pop up around here often and when they do they are in awful shape.

The axle boots would be considered "OG" way back when. LOL Most of the cats that have wanted 1st gen 250rs, have them already have them. I wouldn't wait around very long to pick one up though. As much as the 81 250r was the first honda factory serious performance trike, I like the disc brake 82 better. I love the wide tire look and the front and rear disc. It's why I set my Tiger 250 up that way.

Way over priced, 1st gens dont bring much cash, idk even if it has the fanstay head on it. But it is clean.

"Similar ones have sold for over $5000" I need to find out where this is. I would let my beloved 300r go for that! lol

I just saw one go for 5 grand. It was just like it except it had an extra wheel. But the same thing - atv and knobby tires and plastic fenders and stuff. It was a Yamaha version - from 2011 and a 450F not a 250R, but identical - rubber grips and everything. So.....they are out there.
