This was my first 250R I bought back in October 2006. Pretty much rode it everywhere, flat tracking, trails in Florida, Imperial Sand dunes, Northern AZ trails, Nevada Logandale trails, Dumont dunes, and local desert riding. Last year went to service the swing arm bolt and it was stuck! I did not want to build from the frame up but once I cut the bolt it was on. The build sat for too long and I finally got motivated to start building again. I have a couple builds going and this will be quickly followed by another.

I could not be happier with the swing arm bushings, and TM designworks slider. Few more things on order this week and should be ready to fire up later this week or the weekend.

Who'd you have do your tank? Who ever it was should have done a little better job around the filler neck.

Nice bike. Those swingarm bushing should never let a bolt seize in there. I used them on my build for that reason.

:lol: I derserved that one. Man I've been slacking on that thing thats for sure. I guess that filler neck doesn't look so bad now that I know rustyhondas is on the job.

Great work as always Mike. In all seriousness though Mike, I know your not a green guy, but I would love to see you apply your wears to a T3 like you do the R's.

Time to call this build complete. Torqued down all hardware, added some decals, a front knob for all types of riding and swapped a bunch of hardware for fresh zinc plated.

Changed the pipe and silencer and did some jetting around the neighborhood, about the only thing left is to jet it at the dunes to make sure its happy.

Wow, very nice! I always wondered about the OE versus Maier R plastics,I know the differences on just about every other model except the R, because I never had a 250R.

Went to the dunes for Presidents day weekend. Took the R right out on a flat for a couple plug chops and noticed the axle fade nut had backed off. Tried to tighten it down and it would get snug then break loose. Great what you going to do now? I flipped the threaded collar and was able to get it torqued down and added some loctite. Seems the threads on the one side were wore down enough to not allow it to tighten.

Worked a little more on jetting, and still need to do some more carb adjustments. Overall that was the only issue from the shakedown other than needing a carb bowl gasket.

No action shots but here are a few stills. I have some go pro footage as well. Once I edit it, I will post the R climbing Patton hill.

Here's a silly question for all you lucky sob's that get to play in the dunes lol.. When you mount sand tires,I assume you mark the tires when mounting, like degreeing a plug. So the paddles are lined up perfect left and right once installed? So it pulls perfectly straight. I never thought about it till looking at this beauty sitting there.

I just rotate the hubs to line the paddles up.

I have some go pro footage as well. Once I edit it, I will post the R climbing Patton hill.

Camera pointed backwards, roughly the 5 minute mark is the hill climb. R is running a bit thick at the moment.

Those same plastics have been with this machine since 2006. I have not done anything but maintain them after every ride.
