i will be startign to work on my 350x this winter after the turn of the year. i am going to put in a new wiseco 12:1 piston. what carb do you guys recommend I use? I have some ideas, but wanted your thoughts before I went futher on them. I am also going to make a custom header and look at maybe a cam upgrade. not looking to build a racer, just a fun stable running bike with little more umph than stock.

I heard the 400ex carb is a good upgrade esp. due to the fact it has an accelerator pump

cool. i was not sure if i should look at that or an aftermarket 30-something mm mikuni carb. i wpuld prefer a stocker style bolt on. i'll do some checking on it.
anyone else got any ideas?

The worst thing is you are going to need race gas with that piston.Go with a something smaller.

why would i need race fuel? if tuned right you can run up to 13:1 comp and run super unleaded. it's all in the tuning. my 200x runs a 12:1 and the decking (cleaning the surfaces of head and jug) brouth it to 12.5:1 and i run jsut normal pump premium fuel. i will have to run it a tiny bit on the richer side for top end but that shoudl be all. especially if the piston gets preped properly.

Detonation is not a good thing.

so the 350x is more prone to detonation than the 200cc series?

Not stealing a thread just a quick question this 400ex carb is a direct bolt on to the 350x thinking about doin it to awaking it a bit more with the cam.
Thanks Todd

race fuel is all i run in my 13.5:1 engine. air cooled with that much compression is just a bad idea with 93 IMO. to much heat and possibility for detonation
