Hey guys I'm swapping my '84 atc250r motor out with an '82 atc 480r motor that has been bored out to almost a 500. After fabrication and doing the trike right. Extended swingarm, widened axle and all the goodies. If I ever wanted to sell it, how much do could I expect? I live in Ohio so these aren't very popular but for people near the sand that could really open it up. Thanks for your responses
I'll give the standard cliche answer. As much as someone is willing to pay. First and second generation 250r's don't bring a lot of money in any area so don't expect to get rich. I'll also be the first to say without pictures its hard to base a price of a machine without knowing its condition.

Very understandable. I was just curious especially after all the work gone into it. Thanks for your time

Ask what you think it's worth, obviously only someone who feels the same will pay it. If not, You will know it because it will still be sitting there.

If you are lucky the best you could expect is .50 on every dollar you put in it maybe less. If you going to fix one of these up you need to want to keep it because you will never get what you have in it.

I have an 81 250r Iv put about 1500-1800 into it .I know I wont get half that if I sell it.Most buyers see a 30 plus year old machine .

While costly, an ATC with an old school CR-480 motor is a pretty wicked ride. My boss has one built from an '84 that's an absolute monster. It's fast, fun, simple, not as expensive as a liquid 500R, and different.

Just sold a CR 480. Nasty dirt bike. Very nasty 3-wheeler!

That sentence there is your answer.. FORGET all the work that will go in it,and chasing parts, and fabrication....You will never get anything close to half of what you're thinking. Sorry to be blunt. The good side? Like Chazz said,,they are an absolute monster of a ride! Build it for you. If you're building it TO sell. forget it : ((
