Trike nazi's!!!

So some of you know i drag race my 250r in the 1/4 mile asphalt. Earlier this year the NHRA shut me down. After many email's and back and forth phone calls, they told me to wait until the 2013 rule book came out, there will be some changes to the rules. So that gave me a little bit of hope. Rule book came today....this is what it says......



SECTION 4C: E.T. MOTORCYCLE, DESIGNATION (Page 12)
ET/MC, preceded by rider number. For motorcycles running 7.50 (*4.50) seconds or slower. Unaltered OEM production Can-Am Spyder three-wheel motorcycle permitted. All other Three-wheel vehicles prohibited..................WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

your name says it all, that really sucks nothing like having a place to race safely and then they tell you that you can't race there. all because of what you were probably beating some people that didn't like it and they complained.

I think you should go talk to a lawyer take the rule book with you. See if there is some sort of discrimination going on here.

honestly id put dirt tires on it and enjoy it for what it really way made for. sure it sucks but your gonna blow money on a lawyer when you can get a thill in the dirt. do not take my comment as i am agaisnt what you were doing because i am not. some things are just easier let go the faught.

I have tried everything guys....they will not budge, looks like im going to have to switch to a trx chassis if i want to keep doing this. The upside to all of this is that most of my stuff will bolt right on to a trx. and i can take the trx stuff and make my trike a dirt toy again. Not what i wanted to do but i guess thats all i really can do at this point

I haven't been posting much lately, but I can't sit back without having some input here. This is really bothering me. It's total bollocks is what this is and you shouldn't stand for it. I know it's easier said than done, but there has to be something you can do. A petition? A gathering of trikes (not just drag racers) showing up to races to picket? Something?!?!

In this day and age, this kind of discrimination against trikes has started to take a turn in our direction. It seems more and more you see trikes being accepted places the they previously weren't. It's totally asinine of these people to make this change all of a sudden.

Guys I doubt it is the NHRA or the track owner that doesn’t want trikes on the track. It is likely the insurance company that the NHRA uses that requested this rule. The NHRA carries a $250,000 (may be more now) life insurance plan on all members, but you need to get a medical and pee in the bottle randomly depending on how fast you run. The Can-Am trikes are likely permitted because they are DOT approved, hence considered a lower risk that something pieced together by a backyard engineer. It sucks, but don’t take it too personally, they have a business to run and no one is stopping any of us from opening a track and letting three wheelers make passes on it. Maybe look for an IHRA or unaffiliated track to run on?

I say swap over to the TRX chassis and get back on the track and STOMP THEM SOME MORE.... Then the guys that complained you were beating them won't have any damn excuses because you beat them again!!!

This kind of crap makes me sick. I had a buddy that used to race stock class drags and every year they changed the rules, every year they tried to push him out, he kept coming back and winning under the new rules. Thats more effective than complaining, just beat them on their own terms!

my dad races at a small dirt track mainly dominated by monte carlos. go figure right? in the early 90s he raced a torino. every year... new car. little different. ALWAYS rack and pinion steering. then BAM! new rule no rack and pinion steering on fords.

i dont think thats really very relevant at all. has to do with motor sports and dumb rules... but thats about it. just my story on how people are A-holes

Now thats not a bad idea... If the rules permit it you could run two tires touching the ground on the front and technically its four wheels. But then they will write up the rules to say axle numbers or some other crap who knows how they word it...

TRX chassis is what im going to do. I'm not going to waste my money or time trying to put another wheel up front. The trx isnt going to look as cool as my trike tho.
When people see it at the track all they can say is "That thing is CRAZY" and YOU ARE CRAZY" hahah

I would like a Puma build... someday when I can afford the bottom end and tranny upgrades to go with it! LOL!!

I would really like to build a 363 Spynx though. I am hearing some good things about them, plus they are more in my price range and you don't need all the bottom end and tranny upgrades if everything is in good shape...

That Puma's got to be a blast though! If I recall, didn't you say you were running low 12's in a 1/4 mile?? Whats that end up being, about 90+mph?? Dang impressive man!

I have had it in the 11's.....up to 108 mph....one day the timing system said i ran 113mph but i dont think it was right

Take the machine with you and place a ballot box with a small Q and A form for the fans...Support from specatators who pay to see guys like you streach the bounds of building limits, for the sport: Well it might just help your cause when the NHRA sees it from a $financial side of it as opposed to a liablity. I'm on your side and can't see the difference in who take an Ambulance ride from topfuel to 3wheels. Insurance rules kill me and chain link fence just slows the hurlling motor parts down...so you can vacate your spot in the stands.
