I am looking for some new rear tires for trail riding. I have been looking at the Maxis Razr xc's. I think they look real nice. Sound like they perform just like I want. I just cant find many people that run these tires. Anyone here have any experience with the Razr XC rear tires?
Another question. The tires I want are 20x11-9
I can get 2 different rims. The Douglas .190 or the .160. I know the .190 are the best of the 2, but the .190 are only 8" wide, and the .160 are 9" wide.
.190 is 9X8 3+5
.160 is 9x9 3+6
I am not sure which one to go with. The tires are 11" wide. I think an 8" rim might be a little too narrow. I know it will fit, and work ok. But I dont know if I should go with the 9" rim. It will add an extra 1 inch to each side of my trike, which is nice too. Well.. it might just make the rim stick out farther.
Any input will be very much appreciated.
Thanks,
Dan

20" on the trail is as short as I'd run...really a cross size for trail/track. If you ride in rockey conditions and have alot of road travel between trails. I've run Vipper's and can't complain...they're 23"tall 6ply large knobby. I consider them a cousin to the TrailPro for wearing like iron with excelent sidewall protection. Overall terrain tire performance good IMO not too grippy on HP but not a mudbog tire either. 6ply makes them a bit heavy but I have never had a flat in all the I ran them...heck I still have them in the shed for a rockey run at Hatfield McCoy if needed.

i run 20 x 11 x 9razr's (standard, not xc's, 4 ply) on my tri z. love'em, they make a great trail tire imho.

What I really need to know is will an 11 inch wide tire fit good on a 8 inch wide rim?\
I know I should probably get banshee hubs so I can have a better choice of rims.

9x8 is fine. I think usually guys use the double bead locks with the 9x9's
edit: it does say 9x9 rim on the maxxis site, but I know 9x8's will work and look great

just make sure they are 4/100 bolt circle or you need to get banshee/raptor/yz450 hubs to run the 4/115 which is normally what the 9 and 10 inch rims are

Ya. They are 4x100. Douglas makes a 9x9 rim also, but it is not as strong. It is .160" aluminum instead of .190" that the 9X8's come in.
I am so torn on what to get. I know the .190 is a good amount stronger.
Banshee Hubs are a direct swap to the tri-z splines right?

Unless you are a duner, get .190s, but be aware the outer lip will get all chewed up, if you have any rocks in your dirt. Best advice is get Warrior/Banshee hubs and get a a set of used OEM aluminum rims with the rolled outer lip. You may even find a set with OEM tires on them which make excellent trail tires, especially the Warrior ones. Will probably be far cheaper, and last much, much longer.
^ That is good info Tim. Too often oem wheels get over looked, but in reality are usually a lot stronger than the heaviest non-beadlock aftermarket wheel and can be had at a cheaper price. Look on your local craigslist for a guy that buys a new 450 or raptor and has to have a new set of blingy wheels and is selling his stockers.

Thats the thing. I hear people say how They have run ITP for years, and switched to Maxxis and have never looked back. Then there are people who say ITP are the only tire to run.
I really just want to buy a set of tires that hold up. I just bought a set of Banshee hubs on ebay for $30.
It didnt really open up any tire options, because douglas has 4/100 rims that are 9x8 and 9x9. But.. The used market will be awesome. 4X115 is used on so many machines.
What are the stock tires for Banshees? I think I will look into it.
The thing is... My family offered to get me a new set of wheels for Xmas. So... wheels or a Nintendo Wii with the new mario. But a Wii u wont get much use after I play Mario for a couple days. I guess tires wont get much use if I rip the sidewall apart either. I am not used to getting expensive presents like this. So I feel kind of bad when I can go buy a nice used set.
Ok. Now to front wheel. Other than Swapping my 86 forks with Honda 250r forks, How can I run a 11" front wheel? I cant deal with the horrible wheel options for 12" front tires.

CST made a round of 23"(overall height) MXtires, that fit the 12" stock rim. You might find an old dry Dunlop K series if you look hard enough....I know the people on these boards who have them want 120+....keep in mind the CST is just over 80(on Ebay). I found a near mint 86' stock front tire on Clist with rim, hub/rotor....$65 shipped to me. The guy had NO idea what it was for the ad read 23" Dunlop....when searching, remember less detail is more info returned.
OH yeah, there is NO option at the moment...other than the 250R swap(with a possible 10" rim as well).
