Rode my 4th ATC 250R today...impressions

Test rode an ATC 250R from 1985. The guy was selling it for $1500 but come with extra:

- frame
-shock
-swinger
-tank and shrouds
-rear fenders
-siezed up motor
-front forks
-triple tree
-headlight
-front fender
-etc...

Alot of stuff but I passed on the deal.

Riding impressions:

This was the fastest R I have ever ridden. The other 3 were dogs. Good motor!! Less bottom end than my Tri Z similar mid range (maybe hit harder than the 86 Z) but it revs out a bit further. I like the motor alot!

Also it seems shorter than my Z. Time to do the wrench report mods....

It was fun!

I am not sure....the R was really dirty and just made me think of all the work I would have to do.

I am kind of a perfectionist when it comes to my trikes and bikes.

I still have my YZ400F that I need to get running right again and my Tri Z that I want to get the wrench report mods on.

The R was in good shape mechanically but a dog in every other way. All the other parts were so dirty that I could not even tell if the plastic was scratched or brand new....

....I am tired of working on bikes....been a long time since I have just ridden and had fun!

If anyone is in the Houston or Texas area its a good deal.

I think all the stuff would sell on ebay for about $450...so you get the R for about a grand.

Sounded like a bit of work. What are these Wrench Report mods you are talking about?

Basically Yamaha porting specs to wake up the Tri-Z engine.
