I wanted to post this a while back (because I like to brag about my boy) but he wanted to keep it low key. Too bad, I am the daddy so I over rule him. My son just turned eight a couple of weeks ago. Instead of toys he wanted all of his gifts to be in the form of animal feed, bleach, animal toys, and other supplies the local animal shelter needed. He brought in quite a haul and the animals received much needed supplies. He might be small, but he has a big heart.

Great to see a young person coming into the rescue world, gives me hope for the younger generation.

That is great! U should be proud. When asked what we want we request a give to their local animal shelter or aspca. Our ' kids' are our animals

My dogs are all rescued as well. Dogs are a lot like children you spend a good amount of time with them they learn how to behave almost like children, its funny to have friends over an they worry about the dogs getting out when there going in and out of the gates, just to tell them don't worry there not going anywhere,, my dogs know if the gate is open they are not to go any further then that line.. one night I left the gate open all night woke up the dogs still sleeping on the back porch.. you get out of them what you put in them just wish more people understood..

I agree. A while back my son was attacked by a pit bull for no reason. The dog came out fo no where and latched onto him. Even though that happened, he still does not treat dogs like they are bad.

He's a good boy,, never let him talk you in to watching his dogs when he grows up! It will be like watching the dog pound in LA county....lol..

Good on your son and good on you for raising him right. Our 2 dogs died 2 years ago and we are planning on 2 more, but we've been holding off. They will be rescues.

+1 for faith in humanity. There arent many like him being brought up any more. My wife, 2 1/2 year old daughter, and I ran into a young man (10ish) last night at the grocery store. he was playing the claw machine as we were walking out the door with a line of people behind us. He won a roadrunner stuffed animal. you could see the excitement in his reactions as to how proud he was to have won. He got it out of the chute at the bottom of the machine, turned around with a great big smile on his face, and handed it to my daughter. He said " Merry Christmas". She is really shy at first around people she doesn't know. Ill bet we stood there in the door for half a minute while he was trying to get her to take it. She finally did after some convincing from mom and dad. I shook the kids hank thanked him and handed him a $20 bill. He was more excited than he was when he won the toy!

You just dont see kids like those any more.

Lonesome, congrats on raising such a caring kid. Hopefully it will rub off on some other kids as well.
