I restored several 85-86r tanks with good results. Did the razor blade wet sand buff deal etc.
The tank in the pics has a dark black reddish color to it
For you experts what's the best way to attack the black

Thanks
Jim

Looks to me like it had a dark colored 2 cycle fuel left sitting in it for a looooong time and now its etched into the plastic .
Got anything you can trade for the one I have ?

Hit it with some SOS steel wool when wet..if the discolouration is ON the tank it will get it off.

If it's IN the plastic as Shortline suggested..nothing if getting it red again.

Wet sand it with 1200 grit. Use simple green. Do not dilute. You might want to sprinkle some comet powder bleach on top of the plastic after you wet it with simple green. I have a red plastic tank that had black smoke damage and it came up with some patience. Finish off with 2000 grit and simple green. After you get the red back you can clean it with that tire foam stuff. Turtle wax tire foam works great on plastic. Good luck.
