I'm brand new to this site after finding it along time ago when i was looking for parts to my 1985 honda atc 110. then i went on active duty in the navy. i have now returned to a little tiny town in backwoods Wa, where the local atv shop had an 85 Big Red sitting out front and i knew it was mine. So i now own the Big Red (or Burtha as we call it) and the little 110 (Bessy) both 1985. the 110 was in bad shape but after devoting time and care it is now practically an unstoppable tank. The previous owner bought the big red in 1985 brand new. rode it once, wrecked, got scared and put it away in storage. he is now 89 and sold it to me, which brought me miraculously back to this forum. I am on the hunt for the elusive 1985 honda 250es big red steel gas tank. My biggest goal is to return the big red to its former beauty with minor adjustments, like all the metal (including the gas tank is going to be rhinoline'd / line-x'ed / herculined. if you have anymore questions about my goals. just ask:TrikesOwn

Welcome and thank you for your service.
The only problem I can see is that you'll want more trikes.
Keep 'em hidden or they'll attract more.
I like the metal tanks too, and they do pop up periodically. (love the warning stickers)
How bad is yours? If it's rusty, there are tons of pages if you get to the search key.
Plastic tanks are also avail. everywhere.
Download the owners manuals and some orig sales brochures for fun
and if you have hard drive room, the:
service manual
Make sure you check change the gear oil in the rear axle
and please keep us posted.

I'm confused...did you buy the Big Red from the local ATV shop or from the original owner?

I grew up in Rochester, raced motor cycles and ATC's there for years. Did you see the TV show " American pickers" a few weeks ago, they were at my child hood friends house (the Newby's) 3 houses down from mine. I was home a year ago picking up my old Team Honda 200x from a guy that had it for the past 20 some years.

Greetings. I'm fairly new to the site as well, also with an '85 250es. I live in Eastern, Wa. Plan to do some ORV'ing when I get the time.

It's nice to see somebody else from the area (I'm in Aberdeen). Maybe we could find enough people in the area to put a trike race on.
