motor was locked up and I didn't like how the crank looked when i pulled the head off so figured i'd try and split the cases. I think I might be in over my head. Anyway this is a 2 stroke yamaha off a pw80. I know it's not a trike motor but I've been a member here a long time and this is a busy forum. Figured I'd get the best answers here. I ordered a new piston and full gasket kit so I'm into it for $56 in parts already. Not to sure I'll be able to get the tranny all back in correctly. It's still together but some parts like the tranny drum I have no clue how it went in as it kind of just fell out. Anyway the rod is rusty but not too bad but there is some pitting on the crank and the cases. What do you think?

Doesnt look all that bad to me , clean up the cases and new crank / rod bearings and the bottom end should be good .

new crank is $80 shipped. You think it needs to be replaced? it will come with rod and bearings.

Chances are the bearings are done ... with all the rust they are prob pitted and for 80 bucks I would replace it .

I have a PW80 repair manual, if you need it.

No way, I just paid to download one. But I'm not sure its the correct one. It doesn't go into much detail about the inner workings. I'm already forgetting how some things like the transmission and different gears and washers go back together. Does your repair manual go into much detail? Thanks!

as long as your replace everything that froze you will be fine. pw80s run forevery...why was it frozen? premixer stop working and left outside with out a spark plug? a pw80 would make a fun trike i think, easy conversion already low in the rear and has a nice front wide fender....one day ill build one!

Don't know why it was left out. Kid said he thought the kick starter was frozen. But the tank was disconnected with no gas cap on so it was filled with water. When I ook the head and cylinder off straight gas came POURING out. Like the entire thing was hydrolocked with gas. I can't see how the oiled would fail its an 05. Is there anyway to check it?

Very saveable. Clean the cases, new bearings, new crank. How does the cylinder look?
A real service manual will go into perfect detail about the tranny.

Cylinder looks fine, needs a good hone. Thanks to the member who gave me a clymer manual! How should I clean the cases without ruining the bearings that are pressed in for the tranny? Also anyone ever use a little jb weld on case surfaces that have been marred from screwdrivers? Lol

careful, that cylinder is probably plated, going for a hone could bone you big time
