Guy wanted $500 for it. I got it for $400. It needs valves adjusted, cam chain tightened, and carb could probably stand to be cleaned.

It was sitting in a barn for the last 2 or 3 years. It started right up and I rode it for a couple hours today.
Does anyone have a link to a free service manual for the BW? I would post some pics if I knew how to do it from my i phone.

Do that service tune up and oil and filter change on that engine, don't wait too long. Don't forget to clean and oil the air filter while you are at it. I think you did pretty good. Congrats on your new toy. I've always liked my 85. Nice not to have to worry about a battery.

Yup I had to move some things to get it in the garage, but it is in there. Now I just have to move some things so I can work on it. LOL Cleaned the spark plug and air filter today while I had daylight left. The oil looked like it was brand new. Going to go ahead and order some filters and get a new spark plug.

Nice BW! You got a good deal for sure. If the kicker gears start slipping make sure to fix them or it can break the left side main case. I learned this the hard way on one I bought. The kicker slipped when I got it and I thought no big deal untill I tore it apart. Found out later this is a common problem with BWs. They are a very fun bike and will go about anywhere. You should deffinately have fun with it. I have a blast on mine!

Nice bike . I picked up a 85 model to when i went to the Vintage Festival at Barber's Museum in Birringham Alabama back in October for $ 300 . They been making that same engine for over 20 years very reliable bike . Great find .

Good to hear I did OK. You guys are more supportive than my wife. LOL She tried to tell me I didnt need it.

Kiser, the kicker is loose on the shaft, but it hasn't slipped yet. Defiantly something worth keeping an eye on.

I discovered today that there is a lot of silicone on the clutch cover near the oil fill plug. I've got to look into that.

Alot of times people get over exited with the silicone. Makes it a pain for the next guy! Its kind of like the guy wearing to much cheap cologne...they think more is better! Hopefully all is good inside the case. If the kicker and the clutch dont slip thats a good sign!

I know when I got my 85, the right side cover was busted into 3 or 4 pieces and kind of glued back together with silicone. I just went down to the dealer and bought another side cover. It would be neat to make a little reinforcement piece for the sidecover and weld it in place, but it's pretty tight with the frame to sidecover clearance. Probably the biggest design flaw of the 85. I just try to be mindful of that problem.

I havent had anything slip yet. I did the oil change, timing check, carb clean, air filter, and jack shaft grease yesterday. I tried to put new chains on it, but It is going to need rear wheel bearings, so Ill change them when I do the chains. I have to make a little wrench for the eccentric bushings to tighten the big chain.
