looks like 85-86 250r or trx- I got that one on mine. Not sure what you wanna know? If you are going to get one-thats the one to get because you can adjust fully + or - .theyre not as cheap as they used to be tho. the others are fixed at + 4 & cant be adjusted. I added it to mine - after porting+ bigger carb+. vf3 reed cage & full rebuild.
not sure if the one on the pic is yours- are u havin a problem? looks like its at 0 - stock setting.....

Hmmmmmm..... you got me thinking! ;) :D:twisted:

Anybody run one of these on a big bore with any luck?? I am still running stock ignition and have heard from quite a few that the big bores are touchy with timing....

Sorry, it's an 86 250R.
I have read from some that 4 degrees advanced seems to be a sweet spot but wanted to verify from those who have actually done it.
I had to replace my rotor and decided to install this unit while it's apart. Have not rode it yet.
I did notice the dwell between the rotor and Pulse generator is tighter than stock...it measured .017...don't know if that's a problem or not.

Thanks
Marc

When I installed mine, I gradually advanced it . +4 was also the majic # but thats not the case Im sure with all motors/
setups . So thats why I chose that one -(just in case it wasnt). Never had a problem at all years later. Make sure theres some blue lok-tite on them bolts - if u didnt do so already. Do you have any mods done or is it stock? It may not like +4 on a stock motor.-not sure????
I dont recall the gap.

The motor is close to stock (specs are below). I'm making a trail/woods rider out of it. I usually ride between 5000-11000ft and a small bump in timing may help...don't know yet.
I appreciate the experience and opinions of others... i like to avoid pitfalls when possible.

Stock Cylinder 66.5mm-Duncan ported (X Country)
Powerhead - Dome cut for 110 octane, 5500ft
Paul Turner Type 6 Pipe
VForce3
Stock Ignition
Stock PJ carb.

i run one on my 310 i've only experimented with it a little couldnt really tell you any definate results i believe on my recent rebuild i set it back to 0 and haven't done enough riding yet to do any testing and tuning. i have read on big bore applications that they run better or its safer to run with a little retarded timing but i have no real evidence to support that yet.
