I acquired a 200X desert racing machine from it's owner, Tim Baird. While Tim may not be a house hold name, he did come in second in a Parker 400. He and his machine also were featured in a Dirt Wheels magazine article. The machine has all the full tilt chassis and motor mods that the factory Team Honda machines had save for the frame modifications. Motor is a full tilt Curtis Sparks built...just as some of Team Honda's machines. What do you think...any collector value. Hate to ride it hard if it's got value. Building another one for my own fun.

good call... tuck that 200x away. bust it out when someone starts talkin like theyve got a fast 200x.

but yes, id say that theres value there. enough that if it were mine, it wouldnt see much daylight.

find one of the 100's in your area that isnt special and build it up n romp on it.

That's kind of what I thought. Since the factory machines were supposedly crushed after their racing days, I figured this was the closest thing you would see at this time to those machines.
At The Back of the Pack....I do get a chuckle when I see a YouTube video titled "Fastest 200X". This baby is nasty. I'm not 100% sure what it has up it's sleeve but the obvious is the monster porting job, titanium retainers, a radical cam, large carb and DG exhaust. What puzzling to me is everything I read from the 3 wheel tribe is that the 200X is not a reliable motor to modify yet this one has several long desert races under it's belt. Granted the motor was torn apart each race. The reliability is underrated.

I got the trike at a buddy's house. I got three teenage kids bugging to ride it. It's best "out of sight....out of mind". I'll drive to his house this week and take some pics. I've kind of forgot what it looks like myself because it's been under the Honda cover so long. I"ll try to get a video posted on YouTube and get you all the link. I'm going to try to find a back issue of the magazine article featuring the bike. For good reason, Tim Baird is hanging on to his. I do see back issues on Ebay from time to time.
