I was hoping younze (yes I am from PA HA HA) could help me out with the rules for the drag races.. I had a 4 stroke but now I'm going to be racing a 2 stroke and needed some info on what will keep me in stock class and not mod class.. Like am I already in the mod class because I have a 86 Trike and carb but a 85 motor? If so I need to know because then I am cutting my pipe and doing stage 2 port work to it? Thanks for any info..

Thanks Ben, no suprize, Im still confuzed:wondering So can I be in stock class with an 86 carb on an 85 motor even though the trike is an 86??? And it sounds like I can do the stage 2 work and still be in the stock class because its all internal with OEM parts?? Am I wrong??

Hey where r u gonna race? Trikefest, It is the weekend after father's day in june, Look it up under forums then rides, events, locations.. The best time ever!!!!
IMO, I would advise you lengthen your swingarm before you rip into a good running Z engine. I don't know the specifics of your engine integrity/reliability as of now, but post after post on this forum from Z owners, is nothing but overheating, base gasket leaks, and blown top ends on the Z and that seems to increase as people start messing with things. If it is mechanically sound and runs fine, I would leave it be and do the swingarm first. It's more likely cheaper and quicker and will yield more benefits. You can have all the power in the world and if you can't keep the front end down under acceleration it's useless. The Z is one of the most front end light wheelie poppers of the Hi-po trikes. Plus 1-2 will make a world of difference not only in drags but for hills/trails and MX. If you are running a 86 frame and forks, your Z is already shorter in length than a stock 85 is, incorporated in to the 86 fork geometry. But if your engine is tired and needs rebuilt then by all means do it up.
As far as the rules for stock class, if you find yourself wanting to race some of the other girls, you may have to enter mod class as well or grudge match them. My wife is not much of a drag racer and is higly unlikely she would drag race, but if she were to race, having a 86 carb on a 85 250R with no lid, puts her in mod class. So if you two wanted race it would have to be a grudge match unless they change the rules on the fly. There are others like Sandy, and maybe a few others that more than likely would also be in mod class if she/they ran too.
As far as my wifes set-up, no matter what with her new motor combo she would be in Mod class if she ran, and would probably beat my current set-up.

Amanda will be running her Z in the drags this year, but NOT in stock class.... I scrapped the stock carb for a 39, AND installed a sprock head, so she too will be running with the big boys in mod class! Lol.
And I agree with Mosh about the +1-2 swinger...for the ladies at least (I prefer a stock length swinger, but I'm 240lbs). Amanda has a +2...she loves it, and her bike will still RIP 3rd and 4th gear wheelies with me on it! But it made the bike VERY predictable in the woods and on the track.

Well I want to stay in the stock class but I will look into getting a +1-2 swing, does any one have one for sale? ;) And thanks Mosh and Jon for the info..

Her motor does run good, just needs a little more tweaking, so I will be leaving it alone for the time being. I will check into doing the extended swingarm myself so if anyone has any pics of theirs and tips that would be great. She will need a new set of tires though. Got the ol trusty wooly buggers right now.

Mmmm, I'm thinking about building a wheelie bar for the 600, maybe a little motor work... 97.5mm up to 101mm, 11 to 1 compression, stage 3 cam...see you on the start line, lol

heck just a wheelie bar will probably be enough lol that 600 moves out! I was struggling to keep the 310 infront of you when we were duking it out lol a wheelie bar would almost be unfair :D might have to build one for my bike if other people are bringing some hahaha

I like how cocky this JasonB is.....that being said, I would like to line up with any 250 based machine you bring, especially if its a Honda! I should make a quick example of you without leaning on mine too hard! DOOM is coming!

LOL sorry to disappoint but the Rat Build fell through to make room for the 500 project. And the 310 wont be there this year either. We can still line em up though! The 500 motor is all stock so I dont expect anything wild out of it in the open class ;)
