Hey guys/gals! New guy checkin in..My name is Todd and I live in Largo,Fl.. 35 and married w/kids(2 boys, one 6 and 4mo and one 2 yr old girl). FANTASTIC site!! I just got my son his 08 KFX90 for his first bike, so Ive got the itch to get one, but what I really want is a 200x/250r/ or 350x. Would love a 86 350x. When I was probably 8 my dad bought my a 84 and a 81 ATC 70 for me and my sister and she outgrew them and I got em both! I rode them for YEARS and we sold them and I got back into riding in 97 and picked up a 96 Banshee. It was stupidly fast but sooooo unreliable. I mean it broke NON STOP! About like a jet ski lol. About a year later I sold it and never had anything since.

I got on my kids little KFX and pushed the throttle and BAM, instant smile, im hooked again,(even if it was a 90cc) and now I gotta get something for dad to "putt" along with to keep an eye on junior, hehe or so the wife thinks..(gotta justify it somehow)

Ive narrowed it down to three.... the 350x,250R, and 200X.
I have seen all three on local craigslist around here and of course ebay. All very nice and ready to ride. Or should I go for one of the three and find a fixer upper for cheap? Plenty of 350x's that need some TLC. What do ya think? What can a ATC in solid, rideable(not showroom) condition be had for these days? I see quite a few 350's on ebay for 1500-1900 bucks. Is that a good price for a ready to ride ATC? Drop some knowledge on me please...Sorry to get on a rant, but I start typing and cant stop:Bounce
Thanks for the help
Todd

thanks guys..more than glad to be here..I will be doing 90% trail riding in the woods and maybe 10% in a wide open in a sand pit that is huge(prob 10 acres), all loose florida sugar sand..out of the three, with my riding location would the thumper 4 stroke suite me or the 2 stroke 250r? I love em all! Hard to choose so I need expert advice..

Im with ya on that.. I love the bottom end grunt of the 350, and the pull of the 2 stroke. I've never had the privilege to ride a 250r, but did own a 97 banshee. Does the 250r pull like a banshee? That powerband was killer. It was 100% stock shee and alot of fun. It didnt really like trails alot and putting around/lugging. I irrigated the motor doing slow trails cuz I guess they need to be wound up and get air to cool the radiators. I heard they make a fan for the 250r to keep em cool. Lastly what about the 84 250r. Its air cooled and they go for cheaper on the market. Do you recommend them or not? I just want a crazy reliable three wheeler to use on my days off to play around with.

and if you find an 86/87 200x jump on it they are sooo much nicer then the older 1st gen X's
heres an 86 200x that is decent..might be able to get it a bit cheaper too. the plastics are still available from maier also
