Both of my local dealers have a couple trikes on display, first time seeing this one at Shawmut Hills while getting some stuff. I had to take a picture, an employee walked by so I asked if it was for sale, obviously not haha

I love those meaty looking rear tires. Gives it kinda a hot rod look (as if the flames on the tank were not enough) lol

Flames are stock graphics for this one iirc

I don't see why cheech and chong would have owned it? Burnt copper paint, original decals and aluminum wheels are "Mexican" now apparently. Fortunately it is more rideable than a 125m with some polaris tires. To each his own huh.

Yeah shortline, it would be nice to have the original engine for sure! But can't complain too much, there looks to be some time put into it :)

Cute trike, but you lost me on the Cheech and Chong/Mexican comment. Feel free to explain.

Pretty sure he was referencing this post, and I am not sure about the original reference either. :wondering Looks like a well rebuilt early model 70.

That I got, but I'm clueless as to where the Mexican reference in his reply came from:wondering

Cheech and Chong maybe? Guess I should let the OP answer the question! ;)

Because cheech and chong are Mexican. He said it looks like they owned it, meaning it has Mexican styling in his opinion. Or ghetto if you prefer the snoop dogg reference. Don't take offense towards me, direct it at lotust if you are going to be upset about people throwing out stereotypes to describe a style.

I was at shawmut not too long ago, guess it's new, that or I really need to pay more attention!

That’s what I was afraid you were going to say, but before I get into it I suspect the original post by Lotust was meant to connote a drug culture link and I’m as clueless as to where that came from as anyone is. :wondering

For your future reference the character of Cheech was portrayed as a “Latino” which implies an American of Latin decent (See the movie Born in East L.A., a real life documentary about the daily hardships endured by these people;)).

There are currently about 50 million American citizens that could be classified as Latinos and their ancestors lived on what is now considered American soil for hundreds if not thousands of years prior to a white boy named Cristobel Colon getting lost and eventually having a national holiday named after him (I'll never understand how that went down). Most Latinos have never even been to Mexico!

Having spent time with a number of “Latinos” over the years I can assure you that nothing insults them more than being referred to as “Mexicans”, although their tolerance of the uneducated on this issue is admirable as most will not even correct people who call them "Mexicans" to their faces. Now as far as your suggestion that the character of Chong was portrayed as a Hispanic in the movies, I would suggest that you actually watch one of the movies in an unaltered state.

Is that possible?

Hey,,,,, Cheech is Mexican. Chong is Canadian. Lets not get out of control. I think Lotust prolly meant it looked like a stoner trike. to which I agree. kinda cheech and chong like. or maybe snoop dogg. which is cool. trike is awesome. wish i owned it. i'm whiter then the background of this post. don't be so sensitive.

Richard Anthony "Cheech" Marin (born July 13, 1946) is an American comedian, actor and writer who gained recognition as part of the comedy act Cheech & Chong during the 1970s and early 1980s, and as Don Johnson's partner, Insp. Joe Dominguez on Nash Bridges. He has also voiced characters in several Disney productions, including Oliver and Company, The Lion King, It's Tough to be a Bug!, Cars, Cars 2 and Beverly Hills Chihuahua.
Marin's trademark is his characters' strong Mexican-accent; this is part of a comic persona, rather than a natural accent since Marin was born and raised in the United States.

Marin was born in Los Angeles, California, the son of Elsa (née Meza), a secretary, and Oscar Marin, a policeman in the LAPD. Marin was born with a cleft lip, which has long since been repaired. Although he speaks Spanish and uses it in some of his movies, he is not particularly fluent.
I thought I would add this also.

I see where you are going. When I initially read his post I did not think of the stoner angle as redsox has pointed out. However, alot of ignorant hillbillies up here use the term "Mexican" to describe a style which is what it looked like he was getting at. No offense intended and I am aware that they may not be Latino as you say, but you can agree the portrayal of the characters is leaning towards this. This is the only point I was making, I was offended a bit by the first post because of the way it read, but more so the way I understood it.

That being said, I like the 70 and feel it is an extremely clean example, my phone makes it look gold but it is a dark, burnt copper color. Looks really nice in person!

Is that possible?

I would say so, I have seen them sober and do not smoke. Granted, it may be a bit more entertaining in a different state

but now that we see the misinterpretation and understand each other, no need for this to continue
