Was thinking about using this http://www.caswellplating.com/restoration-aids/epoxy-gas-tank-sealer.html on my short track tank to stop some leaking around the aft mounts, the Dragons Blood would blend farily well in my opinion. I want to know if anyone else has tried this and what should I use to clean the inside of the tank from any oil residue. The recommended acetone and laquer thinner do not seem like a good idea, I was thinking possibly some denatured alcohol or methyl ethyl ketone. Any help would be great.

The acetone shouldn't hurt the plastic. It's what I used to clean the 10+ year old gas from my tecate tank. Air dries quickly and no residue left behind. What you are wanting to do is what I was wondering about when I was contemplating painting my T3 tank. The biggest thing is to rough up the inside so the sealer will stick.

Ok thanks fallout I didnt find that thread in my search, I was just skeptical of the acetone because I did a backround check on plastic use and everything I was reading was saying that it would eat at the plastic and make it brittle. Did you end up using the caswell if so how does it work. I know it said it will handle race fuels and I run straight avgas in my R and occasionally I plan run vp 110 for the sand drags. Wanted to know if you had any experience with exotic fuels with that liner.

Follow Caswell's instructions and should be fine.

Instruction follower always. Aslong as they're speaking the truth everything should hold up just fine. I've got a march deadline so I won't be in much of a hurry best to take it slow to get it all right anyways.

I've used it on 3 tanks following the instruction and had no trouble. Paint has been on one tank for 8 months and looks as good today as when I did it.

What did you use to paint that tank? Is it a flex coat or just a spray can?

I"d be totally curious what you did...

Also was that tank BRAND NEW or did have gas in it previously?
