I was thinking about all the 3 wheeler pro riders back in the 80's, and wondered what happened to them? I thought it might be a cool idea to have someone catch up to them now days, and have an interview with them, either on the phone or in person, and then we could post their feedback on here? I think it would make a great section. Im sure some well thought up questions could be created, like what are their intrests nowdays, and what they did and didnt like about racing back in the 80's, etc. The only hard part would be locating them, but im sure somehow, someway, it could be done. Just an idea.. -D

I think this would be a very interesting idea. I can help by searching the net for there where-abouts. Give me some names and approx times they raced.

I found a couple really cool sites. They have riders like Jimmy White, Marty Hart, and Curtis Sparks. I guess they have been doing some quad racing, but it does mention a lot about 3 wheelers. Here they are, the first one is mainly about Jimmy White, and the other has stuff about the other riders

I bought a 200x parts bike and some 250r parts from a guy in Clinton, Arkansas that knows Jackie Meadows of Team Green. I want think he might live in Texas, but could be wrong.
I like the Jimmy White interview.
And the pic of him pitching the KXT I believe is a smaller color version of the black and white pic on the JWR manual.
Well, i compared them, they are not quite the same. :(

I have researched, tracked down, and personally talked to may different ex-factory guys in search of the "Right" parts for my Tecate. Most every person was very gracious and willing to talk and bench race about their experience racing 3 wheelers in the 80's. Here is a list of the people that I talked to over the last 2 years or so...
Riders: Jimmy White, Steve Mendenhall, Donnie Luce, Sean Finley, Tim Helter, Jack Meadows Sr., Dean Sundahl, Curtis Sparks, and Greg Baker.
Tuners: Ron Baker at PEP, Harry Klemm, Darryl Bassanni, Tom Carlson at TC, Bill Cevera at Bills Pipes, and also Curtis Sparks.
I did not research the Honda guys as my primary intent was to find Tecate stuff but I am sure some of them could be found relatively easy. Example, Marty Hart is in Louisiana doing hunting specific ATV conversions.
Anyway, I will be happy to cooperate with this idea if someone wants to
pursue this project. I have Business Phone numbers for all mentioned above as well as home numbers, emails, and IM's for some of them as well.
Before anyone asks I am not going to just paste these numbers around for anyone to bother these guys. It took alot of time and effort to find them.
Curtis.

I've always wanted to do this, but I've never really been big on calling complete strangers up and trying to strike a conversation up with them about threewheelers. And Honestly, I'm not sure why. Maybe because I just kinda figure that most of them think "It was a long time ago and don't matter much now". I know thats more then likely not the case, but I dunno...I've never been much for using a phone anyways, I'd feel much more comfortable doing it in person, but taking a trip to where these guys work/live and spending an hour or two talking about trikes doesn't seem real economical :P

Neither one of us claimed we were perfect.
Matter of fact, I have been using the search function and gotten carried away reading posts and started to post a reply , then suddenly realized that I'm in a thread that was posted back when I had hair.
3WW is a full service website: Knowledge, advice, parts and supplies, trike based events and gatherings, camaraderie, and some healthy doses of good-natured ribbing when necessary. Occasionally there's even a little purse swingin and b!tch slappin http://www.smileyvault.com/albums/userpics/10902/bitchslap2.gif (http://www.smileyvault.com/)
You're not the first one to dredge up a moldy old thread and you won't be the last. ;)
