Ok, i was talking to my Physics teacher (i have the same teacher in Geometry) and we were talking about the old 3 wheelers, and i told him about a stator going bad on my 200x (he owned a 1985 350x and a 1983 200x) so i replaced it and was telling him about me going riding and hes like " i used to break my stators in"......im sure its possible to break them in.....but who in their right mind would break in electrical.....either it works or it doesnt right????

Most of the physicists that I know are more than a little strange with most hearing voices that tell them to "break in" electrical equipment. lol just kidding. Find out what he means by "Breaking in". I started as a physics major w/ a chemistry minor, but swapped because the later physics courses are just too weird when your dealing with "imaginary numbers", and Einsteins theories. Pretty complicated stuff.

It is necessary to keep electrons moving at a slow rate of speed through the copper wires until the copper wire molecules have been smoothed out by the passing movement of the electrons. If the electrons travel too quickly through non-smooth copper wire molecules, the irregularities on the molecules can cause the electrons to completely exit the wire path, and create static and electrical interference in the general vacinity which can result in CDI failures. After installing a new stator, you should keep it under half throttle until the stator coils are broken in.

o.o what a description. Never new that before though, good to know.

Yah! Nice and easy to understand. That's my kind of explanation. Very nice TimSr, very nice.
Now, is there a tell tale sign of when the stator is broke in?

 uh yeah, what tim sr said,my physics teacher in high school was weird. would always be talking to himself, had that look in his eyes, you know the look, where he's eaten one to many hash brownies.
looked like tommy chong, but was smart as hell, just gave me the willies though
:o no offense tim sr,but that made my head hurt just reading your answer.
think i'll go lay down now :-D

is that BS or what?? Sounds reasonable, but it also sounds like a bunch of BULL. :?:

I know whatcha mean. At the same time I don't think Tim would lie about it either. ;)

I think that while it is a true statement, I not sure to what extent it will help the stator. Will it make it last ten minutes longer, or ten years ? These are the unknowns that need to be answered before anyone can conclude if its worth it.
Similar to waxing down your trike to lessen wind resistance. It is a sound theory, but is there any real noticeable difference ?, probably not.

Wow! Please guys, I made it up as a joke to prove three points.
1. Be careful when you ask advice because BS'ers can be abundant, and anybody can sound like they know what they are talking about if they use the right vocabulary.
2. People will immediately chime in on your posts when you are requesting information, parroting something they heard somewhere else, without any personal knowledge. All you have to do is wait a month, and someone will have read this, and will be posting this bogus advice on other boards.
3. This one was not proven here - but I expected to see a bunch of people full heartedly debating this theory as though they were experts on "electron molectular impedance", and several "yeah, that happened to my uncle" posts. This was brought on my those who like to argue the virtues, reliability, and "which will win" topics about new products that have not even been released, let alone been proven in the field.
Okay, show of hands, how many of you fell for this and were about to start breaking in your stators?
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!!!! :D
TimSr, whenever I read your posts I always think of you as some angry redneck. But oh boy, that explanation of breaking in stators was great! You had me seriously believing what you were saying because of the smoothe way you said it.
That was great :D
You're a cool guy TimSr. I always love reading what you have to say.

I'll have to keep an eye on you Tim Sr. Your one slick dude. Now we will just have to wonder (on any of your future post) if you really know whats your talking about or if you are just using the right VOCABULARY. :D j/K

You had me fooled man! I thought you were serious!!!

You can baffle them with bullshit or dazzle them with brilliance and you TimSr managed to do both. :clap
