if you read my "coming out post", the new member from texas thread. it would tel you about my previous purchase which was a basket case. well I have one put together with a multitude of problems. my main problem at this time is the 1.) motor noise. Its loud when its runnig as far as engine noise not the exhaust. is there any way to check oil pressure or whether or not its circulating? 2.)clutch will not fully disengage I have given it the proper amount of "free play" pulled the side of today it appeared to be a pretty fresh clutch. 3.) kick start is gay what does it need to be right? 4.) I need brake calipers front and back.
5.) I WANT some aftermarket handlebars. and I cant manage to tighten the rear spring/shock so my fat ass can ride it.
so if you are familiar with my problems can you please offer some advice! thanks in advance!

welcome! As far as aftermarket bars go, get some aluminum dirtbike bars. make sure it's wide enough on the bottom for the clamps to clear. Have you adjusted the timing chain yet? also what year 200x do you have?

its an 85 how do you adjust timing chain? i have the manual and it kind of contradicts itself. on place it tells me to push tensioner down. the it tells me to loosen tensioner at dile and it will self adjust.?

You probably need to adjust the valves and adjust the cam chain. If you go to my profile, within my albums, you will see an article for how to do both of these. Its a good article. To check oil pressure, start the bike and take the forward-most valve cap off. You should see oil circulating. If you don't, you will have to take off the right side case and blow the passages out with compressed air. Much easier if the engine is disassembled. As far as the clutch it sounds like you need new clutch plates. Barnett sells a good kit.

hey that was a great article. I adjusted the valves they were out a few thousanths, and adjusted the cam chain. But I still have lots of engine noise. are these things just noisy motors. I believe that the racket is coming from more like the transmission area. Is there only one oil fill spot on these.

I am not sure what a "gay" kicker feels like... But maybe actually describing what it's doing will yield better answers

Yes, they are fairly noisy in the top end. I wonder if your crank bearings are going...what does it sound like? Are you running decent/fresh oil?
Yes there is only one place to add oil.

well a "gay" kicker is kinda weak ya know like a limp wrist. recoils kind of slow doesnt catch the compression till half way down, it jumps and slips just a pain int backside.
oil is fresh just put it in today, I changed the head yesterday so the rings are still seating but pretty much done as there is no smoke. i did however find out my oil is circulating its making it to the head anyways.

Ok, 1st gen 200x's are known for their "noisy" top ends. You shouldn't however be hearing anything from the gearcase. If your kicker is slipping and is slow to return then you need a new kicker gear and ratchet setup. You will also need the return spring and the smaller "tension" spring which holds pressure against the gears when kickstarting. The 1st gen 200x kicker setup was a poor design. Even more so if you up the compression ratio. If you want to change out the kicker gears be warned that the cases must be split.

Kickers are pretty involved from what I can tell. The slipping is common, better fix it before it gets worse. Listen to yaegerb, he knows what he is talking about!

Yea so the kicker gear is fine

If its slipping then its not. They recoil pretty fast too when proper.

well I went thru my parts dug out a clutch, whipped it in there, fired it up and went for a rip (it was awesome). I tried to start it later it was kick back a lil. then kicker started acting up tinkered around with it now it wont start period. I was really hoping to not have to split this thing right now.
