My thumb throttle hurts mine after awhile to lol. It's normally from me standing up though because my hand goes to a weird position. My 200m motor slips when I pull every once in awhile.. hurts soooo bad lol

there is a device i believe called a thumb thing ? that goes on the throttle that extends it out so you palm will take the tension of your thumb... or consider a twist grip....

I went to twist grip on my 85 Bigred for the same exact reason, thumb gets silly numb/hurt. Putting twist back on my Tecate and gotta look for twist on my Polaris trike.

Ok thank goodness in not the only I one, some of the 225dx's came with stock twist throttle so I'm gonna do some searching. I have a twist throttle for a 79 Honda twinstar will that work?? I have it off now, the only thing I don't really like messing with the carb

I tried the extension thing, easy enough to install,,,, but,,, really did not solve the problem for me. If I used the palm of my had to control throttle it helped the thumb but throttle control was jerky and over all terrible experience.

It happens to me as well. I have been riding thumb for 15 years and my thumb starts getting sore after about 2 hours or so. Your thumb is probably weaker and not used to it yet. Give it time and it will get better and you strengthen that muscle.

try rotating the thumb throttle a bit to where it feels more comfortable. should give you some relief. but, the best solution is to get a twist throttle. got rid of mine after the first ride and don't miss it one bit.

After working on my 200EL for a few days and using the pull start my hand has been hurting for about 2 weeks. It'll be fantastic once I can get the electric start working properly!

try motionpro.com They make cables, twist throttles, tools, etc. Great company I would recommend a metal throttle tube if they have an option for your bike. The plastic one are kind of a one crash and replace.

honestly if you ride enough your thumb/hands will get stronger. get some of those spring hand exercise things they do help and will surprise you how strong your hands will get after a week or two, AND its a GREAT way of relieving stress (like a stress ball but with a purpose!)

You can try changing the way your thumb is actually engaging the throttle for now. By this I mean rotate your hand/thumb a little bit so it's more vertical than horizontal when pressing the throttle. Uses different muscles and gives the sore ones relief. Mine was sore as hell when I first started riding a few months ago and now it has strenghtened up considerably.

As far as the pull start are you using the compression release? Also, I always gently pull the cord out slowly one or two times before letting 'er rip, haven't slipped since doing that.

Colton

I might still have the twist throttle that I took off of my 225DX. Let me take a look tomorrow and see if I still have everything.
