I found out about the site from google.....Picked up my first bike 2 years ago, 1982 ATC 185s, and let it sit in a pile of parts. The previous owner had it for 5 years and it sat in his shed, never ran. 1 more year from me makes 6 years without a start. Sprayed a little starter fluid in it and it fired right up. A true testiment to Honda. I've been hooked ever since, and have been tinkering on it non stop. So far new brakes, fuel lines, new petcock, air cleaner, chain, brake cable and handle, throttle cable, little paint, oil, cam adjustment, DG exhaust, light bulbs, pull rope mechanism, rebuild carb, and a whole bunch of cleaning. Still smokes a little but runs like a champ. This site has been awesome for any info that I have needed. Much more still to do. I'll post pics as it progresses.

Thanks,
Daniel

Welcome Meyer! I have an '83 ATC 200, which is a similar trike to your 185s. Mine just wants to keep running too! I think one of the reasons those old Honda motors want to run forever is that the technology behind them is pretty basic. Not like quads nowadays that have electronic this, that, and the other thing!

Thanks guys. one quick question is that it runs well, but has a solid layer of burnt oil on the cylinder. Is it worth opening it up and cleaning or if it runs good dirty it is use to it?

Sounds like it is just carbon build up. I wouldn't worry about it unless you just want to rebuild it for the experience of it.
