Are you trying to save the paint?

If it's a large dent like from a knee etc you might try blowing compressed air in it. This may distort your tank in another area though.

Paintless dent removal guys can also do it on small dents, other wise a local body shop can weld some pins to it and pull it out.

Don't know any techniques you can do yourself.

I used the method Thorpe posted awhile back and it worked for me (knee dent).

i guess this answers my question above. I might suggest not to tighten down on the tank very hard as this will leave a small round flat spot even with some types of pad system. The technique is really just to use the jaw inside the tank as a lever much like the paintless dent removal guys do. Your tank may come out wrinkled looking doing this but the dent will be smaller.

Its a knee dent in the side of the tank. Its not creased so i don't think it will wrinkle. Ill be sure to not tighten them down tight.
