Old timer has a 200es for 250$ but says it 'slips' when going around corners.
Bad hub?
250es, everything works but ratty, needs fork boots 750$

and a 90 with frozen front axle, he said 'cheap'.

I think I'll bring him a hub for the 200 and a 3 bolt front axle
and as much money as I can find.

Maybe I'll come home with something I certainly don't really neeeed.

He's got 20 or 30 trail 90 type motorcycles so could be a good ongoing contact.

Wonder what the 'slip / jumping' around corners could be on that 200es?

Could be a stripped out hub and axle splines i have seen that before. Check the nut that holds the hub on the axle, make sure the hub is fully seated onto the axle and the nut all the way tight. Its also possible the differential is shot in the rear end, would have to drain the oil and see what it looks like. If you drain the oil then put rear end up on a jackstand and spin the wheels you can listen for noises and see if the diff is working.
