I grew up on dirt bikes and quads and have own sereral different makes and models. Now looking to buy a 3 wheeler, always wanted one, but never owned one. I have a line on a Tecate-3, just wondering if this would make a good first restoration project. Trying to stay with a two stroke, grew up on them and to tell you the truth I hate the look, sound, and feel of a 4 stroke. Any thoughts or advice would be much appreciated.

From what I hear the Tecates are harder to get parts for, especially the 86-87 models. I did somewhat of a resto on my 250r which wasn't too hard and parts are easy enough to find. The only other option is the Tri-Z and there are still quite a few of those around. Whatever you get though I'm sure someone on here could help with whatever you need.

My first choice was a 250r. Problem is all of the r's for sale in this area people want a mint for. No matter what condition they are in. Looks like I might be able to pick up the tecate for a few hundred bucks, and it's compete.
