Hello group, little history first...Bought an e-bay engine to replace my 250 that has third gear missing, "new" engine runs fine but it did come with some of its own issues. creeping in gear at idle, shifter sticking up and down, mostly on the down shift. pulled the shifter side cover, spring bolt (like many of you) was not broken but had backed out and was rubbing on shift shaft..tightend it but still some sticking of the shifter was present. Pulled The clutch side cover to trade out clutches from my OTHER engine thinking that was the creeping problem but noticed clutch lever had a great deal of wear...clear out acctually.....SOOOOooo my question is this, I have not got a clutch holder in my arsenal of tools and that cluch bolt is on there but GOOD. (reverse threads i know) Could the worn shift lever in the pic maybe cause the creeping lurching issues? seems to me it could cause the shifter to stick down so happy to have found that, but what about the creeping? i would like to replace the lever and seal it back up but would hate to and find out i should have changed the clutch also....what are your thoughts? Thanks! 164594

The centrifical clutch nut comes right off with an impact. The bushing on the clutch actuation arm in the pic is worn pretty bad so it needs to be replaced. The creeping can only come from the centrifical clutch. Be sure its adjusted per the manual. Too tight and it will creep. Idle too high and it will creep.

Thanks for the input. I DO have an impact wrench so i will try that, i know for sure the clutch out of my other engine is good and still within the manual's spec's for the pads. Thanks for the tip.
