Hi everyone, I posted on the other thread but thought I'd post a before pic of my new-to-me 1982 Honda ATC 185S. I found it on Craigslist for $100. When I was a kid, my cousin and I rode all the time; we both started out with Honda 50's, then Susuki 80's, Honda XR100's and then Kawasaki KX125's. My uncle had a 1982 Honda ATC 185S, which we rode, so I have fond memories of this trike.

I was in the Army for 21 years and retired last year; my body is pretty broken from being Airborne and multiple deployments, so since I can't fix myself, I thought I'd give this trike a 2nd chance at life. I have the frame, forks and rear fender sanded and repainted, using Duplicolor Gloss Black for the frame and Krylon Fusion Red Pepper for the forks and rear fender....it doesn't have to be exact for me to enjoy it, as long as it looks good again.

The engine was in partially apart, when I got it, and it's missing the cylinder jug. I took the rest of the engine completely apart and degreased it; it will need a complete rebuild, which I can do (I'm a certified Bell helicopter mechanic and can read a service manual). The original seat was completely trashed, and the seat pan was rusted beyond repair, so I managed to find one on eBay yesterday; the seat pan is near mint, but it does need to be recovered.

I'll start a build thread, but I wanted to introduce myself first. I'm sure I'll be asking a few questions along the way too, so bear with me.

Here's are the Craigslist pics of it, when it was for sale.

Good work on restoring the ol' 185. Most people would have scrapped that thing a long time ago. Surprised at how decent the muffler looks considering the shape of the rest of the trike!

Yeah I was surprised about the condition of the exhaust system too. The rest of the bike was just cosmetic work. I'll post pictures of the work I've done when I get home tonight.
