Looks like a box frame, left side plug. So not a 200X, or 350?
Early air cooled 250R dont look like this? Not water cooled. I have no clue, been searching pictures for hours.
Help

well, it is a 200, and its all in a 200x frame, accept different rear shock, might be a really older type motor, the gears are written on the sidecase in a different spot as well, might be 200 with big red 250 top end, but its no 250r, theres no can on the motor, soo its fourstoke

Ok,
but 200x has a single frame bar downtube. Also, look at the swingarm mount, 200x has adjusters? The frame is boxed or square tubing, my other 200x have round?
The motor is very odd, left plug no CDI unit. Looking close at both sides of the motor dont look like a old air cooled 250r to me, nor a 200x.
The frame engine mounts are inside the 2 downtubes on the frame. Cant find that anywhere, looked on ebay at frame for sale, good closeups, none look like this one.
I'm stumped

Barnett,
He is not able to show it to me till Monday. I'm just doing some recon prior to seeing in person, he says 250r, I say no dice, but what really is it then?
Early 250r air cooled looked very different to this. engine covers, etc.
But the frame is whats really odd, the 2 downtubes in front, and the swingarm mount with no adjusters?

Ok,
one more oddball thing. Look at left engine side. See the clutch cable, its like a 200x. Now look at cable behind it, its connected to the rear of the motor and a lever...WTH is that? I have never seen that before?

Barnett, He ask what it was ( read the first 3 words of the title of the thread "What is this?" ). I replied that is was a 86-87 200x. So you abviously didn't read the title and are wrong to post your reply. newbie
Rhodeislander, That machine is a 86-87 200x. There is NO DOUBTS in my mind on that. You said your 200x's are different. Well they made 2 different styles. 83-85 is the first generation and the 86-87 is the 2nd generation. The 2nd generation was completely redesigned by Honda. The 2nd gen's had a square frame. The 1st gens had a round frame. About the only thing in common with the 2 gen's is the "200x" badge.
I have owned at least a dozen of the 86-87 200x's and at least 40-50 1st gens.
And if my word here isn't good enough then search for pics of a 86-87 200x and you will see I know what this machine is and told you so in the first reply..

Howdy,
Dead on. Did not know they changed that much. He wants 800, too much for a 200x IMHO.

After you buy and sell 500-1000 machines you get to know them a little. The 86-87 200x's are actually nice machines but some parts are impossible to find new.

I have a 1983 200X now that im restoring. Bought not running, 150.00 in CG. It sucked a rocker adjustment screw and nut, cam lobe slammed it into the cam bushing area. am chain snapped, broke the adjuster arm also. Did valves, all new parts, bore, new piston and rings. Waiting for the warm weather to shoot the frame and start the rebuild.
In garage now under construction/resto

That trike is a real piece of work, looks like a 86 in the frame, motor, fenders and tank, but thats a first gen x front end (cause of the larger bolt pattern front tire and front fender) and that rear swinger is not stock. the stock 86 swinger worked on a cam to tighten the chain in the back, and the one in the pic doesnt. it might be a 83-85 X swinger, but its hard to tell from the pics. still not worth it IMO. my 86 ran great, it is definitely more torquey than the first gen, at least in my experience. mine was in great condition, much better than that X and i sold it for $650

i tried to bc i know nothing about 200x's, never seen one before, but knew in years they are different, and it might be a 250r frame, i do beleive there built close to the same, and as i posted the reply i never had the other 2 answer up above me soo i replied for no reason really lol
