so since ive had my tri z up and running my gf has wanted her own trike and has been looking around for something that was cheap that she could sell for what she paid for it in case she decided not to keep it. ended up finding a 85 250r in some guys back yard. owner said after the last wreck it was parked in his garage and it sat around for a few years then he moved and its ended up in his back yard since. had some good parts on it and figured if it was to expensive to get going then we would just part the bike out.some of the goods it has faded mairer plastics, paul turner head pipe with an fmf power core out back, aftermarket front wheel, worn paddles and knobbies tires, renthal handle bars, stock swinger stretch about 5", lots of brackets that were chromed or polished.

here are some pics of it being taken apart. i did not do a complete frame off restoration. just take all the plastics off to get a better look at the frame. i was wreck hard enough to bend the fork tubes and the rear muffler touches the 6 pack rack. also the rack had a bolt broken in the frame. sanded the plastics and just sprayed them black for now.

found me a doner atc that had good forks, front tire with hub, and a stock swing arm. since the rider wont be drag racing too much and more duning/trail riding i wanted a stock swinger so the R can turn better.

i ended up scavenging lots of parts from wherever i could. the rear wheel/tire came from a trx400ex, and the carb i got off my tri z that came off an lt250r but i had a honda thumb throttle so it was ment to be! the filter i had laying around. the swinger it originally had the links polished up so i tried to swap as much of the shiny parts to the finished atc. the handle bars were the stock ones off my tri z, had good grips and they were black to match the plastics. the chain was used and came from my ltr450. the most expensive purchase was the seat cover i got off ebay for about $40. the rest of the $ spent was oil to flush the case and radiator flush to clean out the radiator. plus gas and pre mix. total with the atc was <$300.

redsox, those plastics werent originals and the sun had faded them into different shades of pink so thats why they got painted, my gf actually wants to just get them wrapped with some sort of vinyl graphics with and old fox/honda/ moto x theme.
