I've been around on other forums and I thought it was time I jump in here. I have a 85 ATC250R converted to a Missile. The bike has had everything restored to 100% except for the front end. I saved the best for last. The single most greatest weakness of the Missile is the fork angle. It is too steep and makes the steering too fast. I just got back from a week of riding between my Missile and my Fatcat. It is very obvious the difference in the steering. I have decided it is time to start researching and come up with some kind of answer. I am thinking of having custom made triple clamps that will change the angle, that way there will be no changes to the frame. You can see the difference in the angles in one of the photos below. I am open to any and all ideas and thoughts.

I have read that I need to talk to Jason Hall. What is his user name?

It could be back to a three wheeler in maybe an hour. These kits make no mods to the bike to install.

Nice ride, I have always liked the Missle kits. I know it's probably not going to help a whole lot, but maybe changing the front end to a leading axle might have some positive handling results? Welcome to 3WW:beer

Welcome to the site!
I love your missle R!

I own the 2cate that justben built. Its a 85 T3 w a bigwheel rear end fitted to the frame. He had the same problem w steering angle. 1st attempt was a dampener, 2nd fix try was a 86 T3 front rim,, but then he made decision to modify the frame to make it handle better. The thing is a blast to rude now! It even has a sprock racing 300 top end on it lol

Good luck w your missle!

Any chance you could snap a picture of what he did to modify the frame?

Hey mik6. I gotta say, I watched the videos of the 2cate 2 many times lol. That thing looks like a blast to ride. Seems like I read the builder said he wont ever do another one lol. The 250r's look great but the front end does appear it would be a slight problem.

Have you tried to lower the rear. Doing so will increase the front end rake. You can have triple clamps made but having a steep stealing tube angle and raked clamps it may not want to steer but it is worth a chance befor you cut and weld the frame. I would look for a dirt bike setup with raked clamps

My 2cate frame will never be able to be converted back to a trike. He had to change all the rear pivots and subframe to make it work. So why not cut and weld it to make it handle.. I think ill look for a roller just incase I want to swap it to a trike someday in the future..
