wow
Impressive.
I bet the compression was still ok?

I've heard that seafoam poured into, say, the brake booster vacuum on a truck will
clean that type of carbon but I have my doubts.

Any thoughts? What kind of gas was it running?
Is it new to you?
Why did you finally take it apart?

What's the plan now?
I guess if the valves aren't 'dented' from seat wear, a cleaning and lapping might enough but not something I'd want to do twice.
There's some blue ink stuff that will show the valve face and seat contact but it would sure be nice if you didn't have to worry about it for another 25 years.

Yeah, so I'm curious too..if it ran well what made you tear into it?

I mean it luck you found it, but what made you go there?

Both valves are chipped... sure a ring didn't let go ? At any rate, you're going to need new valves.

I just had my head done for my build I got shinly valves from ebay for 50.00 shipped 350x valves are hard to find.

I got new seats cut and valve seals put in 75.00 into the whole head isnt bad at all seeing that honda wants 45 a valve and there discontunied

i had a spear cylinder so i bought a high comp piston for it when i was putting the engine back together this is what i found in my head. the engine had 160 psi before i took it apart. i bought 4 new honda valves. the valves seats where all pitted so i had to bring the head to the shop to get cut.
