166844Ok so I picked up this 250sx its a 1985 from a turf farm ware it has been for 16 years used around the farm just mainly to get around the guy i bought it from said it was to big of a liability for him cause the workers were always messing around on them  It came with the original title he had bought it in 1997 and never switched it over it also came with all paperwork from the dealer pretty awesome i also got a 1985 bigred 250es with all the same paperwork. I scored it for 475 bucks it ran good but needed the swinger bearings replaced and when a friend was replacing them also figured out it needed a new diff shaft cause it was way warn down so that cost another 300 bucks ill post up some pics as I go along with the restore these first pics are of paper work and what it looked like when I got it except it didn't have the racks166816166817166818166819166820

I had a blaster that I used for parts that I sold so I put it up on craigslist for trade for 3 wheeler parts meet this cool guy that basically has a motorcycle grave yard in his yard with quite a few three wheelers I ended up trading him it for the front and rear rack with all the hardware to put it on and the trailer hitch, toolbox, grab bar, and battery box sweet deal I think he is also the one that did the work on the swinger bearings and rear diff166821166822166823166824

Holy shlt wow..$475. Super job..and to know it's history is even better..
I often thought SX was treated like the poor cousin to the ES, but in my opinion it's every bit the machine of the Big Red. In fact in some riding conditions I like it better!
You got a pretty awesome collection going..let me know when you get to the tire/rim part of your 'make it mine' project. I got some ideas similar to the ES wheel change I did..the SX was the machine I cut my teeth on with wheel experimentation.

Wow, nice score, at a great price! I just got my sx back running, and love mine!
There sure seems to be a ton of sx's still around. Anybody ever thought
about a registry?

I have an es which I love but I'm fastly falling for this sx tho, if I had to pick one (which i dont :p) I would prob pic the sx its an awesome trail machine, I've now put the 200x front end conversion on it and it is so freakin smooth, would highly suggest it. Love the auto clutch for the trails its faster and lighter than the es and better suspension even lighter with the 200x front and it adds front disc brakes but you still can tow a trailer and I have full hondaline racks the things I miss from the big red is the tool box and it has a little more stable feel both must have awesome machines

got my 200x front end conversion done wanted to keep the sx triple trees so I didn't have to modify steering stops and so I could keep the front rack, so also had to use the sx front axle and then to get the front wheel straight used 1 either 1 or 1 1/2 inch spacer and 4 washers on each side. Then it also upgraded the front brake to the 200x disk brake so I used 3 inch bolts with 1 inch spacers worked well way better stopping power. The up grade gave the trike a way sportier look, better front brake, made the front end significantly lighter, raised the front end up some(more ground clearance) it turns better with the skinnier tire and better for the mud/snow(narrower tire = less mud/snow your front tire has to push out of the way) and not to mention the suspention is way better awesomely smooth ride and even made it faster I think from the less rolling resistance of the skinnier166845166846166847166848 tire and the weight reduction.

did the 350x headlight conversion looks awesome gave it a way sportier look. Sense the 350x has 2 headlights and the sx only has 1 i had to cut the sx light 3 wires in half and put some wire connectors that turn one wire to 2 then you just match up the colors I used hm202 headlights Napa ordered them for me for 6.50 a piece they didn't have them in stock I won the 350x headlight on ebay for 100 bucks shipped. with the 250 sx triples you dont have to modify the 350x light at all and the straps stay the same and it even fit with the front rack :naughty:

The SXs ROCK!!! For you guys considering a 200X or 350X conversion, I have pre-cut steering stops ready to weld on. They were cut from 1/4 steel on the waterjet at work. Let me know if you need one. They be cheap and chit!!!!!!!

I've read a lot of posts about bad swingarm bearings. What is the indicator when they're bad?
