So, here's the first run of my repro 200x dash - specail thanks to Mr Brad Howard for letting me use a nice one he had as a mold. Look for these soon in the parts store.

I realize that the color is off a bit, which will be easily fixed with more dye next time...so what do you think? The one on the left is the original...

Looks great James! You weren't kidding about it not taking too long, that was quick. Any pics of the bottom side? Thanks to you for taking this project on.

Great work!

Who has the lowdown on a key switch that fits? Some mentioned a 50cc Honda. I don't recall.

I have the 87 wiring harness in there already or it may even be the same as 86; Again, not sure.

It's much better blue than the pictures shows...should match your dashcaps perfectly...if not, let me know and I'll send you another set.

Those are really great. I think I'd be in for one that matches the caps that were reproduced.

So I'm going to start using a different casting resin that is much easier to work with, but will require a vacuum chamber prior to pouring, so I just grabbed a vacuum pump from harbor fright, and this:

If you find a key switch that works, sell them as a combo. At least I'm not going to pay about $300 for an eBay one now:rolleyes:
Maybe include a wiring diagram too so that we know how to make it work:)

Try the 1993-2006 TRX300ex key switch. I have a key switch here that I am 95% sure is from a 300ex and it fits in the dash. The wires are quite a bit shorter and I think the 200x has 2 male plugs instead of 1 male and 1 female, but I think it can work. I have not plugged the 300ex key switch into the 200x harness to see if it works, but I can't imagine that it wouldn't work.

Mine looks just like this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2004-04-Honda-TRX300EX-TRX300-TRX-300-300EX-EX-Ignition-Switch-Key-/121105516250?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c327386da&vxp=mtr

Here is an aftermarket choice:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ignition-Key-Switch-HONDA-300-EX-TRX300EX-TRX-300-EX-1993-2006-ATV-NEW-/271024639230?pt=Motors_ATV_Parts_Accessories&hash=item3f1a53ccfe&vxp=mtr

Also 95% sure the 86 harness is different than the 87, not that it would be hard to tie in the 2 wires needed.

I used an 88 TRX 250r switch to wire up my 350x...used one of the male and just grounded the green wire to the frame. Install was painless and came out very clean. You can also use the 200e and 200m switches, you just won't need to use all the wires.

People like everything to be perfect (Honda that is....) They sell connectors at the bike shop so it's easy to make them appear factory. All "off" does is ground one side of the bar switch (on/off/on), I image that's in series with the key switch.

Thanks for the ideas on the switches that may work guys!!
