View Full Version : needed: pics of welded tri z pic
i was searching for pics of a welded tri z cylinder, could not find a good pics, just random shots of a cylinder that had a few passes put on. i plan on opening up the ports quiet a bit. i keep hearing that some people have issues with cylinder cracking when they are heavily ported. just trying to get ideas on where to start. any pics or links of pics will be great.

Man,,,I don't know how to correctly and politely say this ! I LOVE Tri Z's. To look at ,and to ride. But,,,they were definitely NOT noted for their reliability when pushed back 26 years ago. I cannot IMAGINE trying to race/work with these parts now that they are dated. My hats off to you all !! Good luck,,because you ARE going to need it !! A ++ for effort ! I would take a good look at Raffas pics before I proceed !

my friend did this to both of his lt500r cylinder, use a piece of round stock to fully weld up the ears. to stock cylinder is similar to the tri z but look at the pic a notice how its welded all the way up the side of the inlet port. allows for some aggressive porting.

Good god, what grenades these cylinder mounts? Whats the squish?
Looks like too long of a plug or the wrong piston in there. Jon's got hit HARD!!
Probably neither caused the damage but jeeze, what the heck is the mounts cracking off an indication of??
ride it like you stole it! that is what cause it to grenade.

These only grenade like that from porting right? A stock z cyinder wont do that...

That is nuts! My ports appear to be at least that large (gulp). I'd best go see the local Priest, say a prayer and get me some Holy water to use as coolant in mine!
