This is a great event to get your feet wet...Harescrambles are tons of fun and can be ridden like a trailride if you want. You pace yourself over 90mins and see how many laps you can make over a course generally 10+ miles in length. If you just want to practice the entire Lighting faclity check the link...Saturday open riding and camping overnight is welcome....MX track and open trails all to yourself, a great way to test your skillz. You can see for yourself if the trails look too tuff or the MX track just isn't your thing without the pressure of other racers...then again it just might be what you've been missing in life. You can still hangout and watch the race on Sunday if you choose. If you've been thinking about just checking out the OTC and whats it about?? This is an Event that will suite you even if you don't race. I recomend you come have fun.

Best part about harescrambles is that you can run anything with front and rear suspension and brakes, with trail tires and be competitive. A 200X is an advantage!

Posted on PitRacer's site Lighting mentioned running 3wheelers as a seperate class. This means we have the entire course to run free of Quads. Sr has asked riders opinion on it; and its looking like everyone is on board for running seperate. Whats this mean to the never been but would like too, racer/rider? The Golden chance to really run at your own speed a skill level, without pressure. No worries of faster Quads bumping for a pass or pulling over to let them bye. It will seem more like a trail ride than a Harescramble. BigRed, DX, or hardtail 200 throw em' on the top of the Carrolla and join the fun. I've never had the chance to run a Harescramble in my life with under 60+ riders sharing the course. We might get so spread out you just might feel your all alone out there. Going last in the day might just soften the course a bit, and blow out the muck holes. A big bonus to a well worn in course is it will limit the need to follow arrows on trees and missed turns in the begining laps.

I am hoping to come out for this...

I hope you make it. You might want to consider running the race. If you come out Saturday you can ride the course, and as Steve said, we will be the only ones on it when we race.

The only trike that is currently together atm is my R but I have a side case bolt stripped out and need to get it fixed first. Not sure if we can get a small trailer and we will not be getting there till around 10 tonight. We will be there just not sure about racing in it, would love to but have a million things on my plate for the day and 2 kids stuck to my side while I do them slows my process a good bit, lol.

I'm really glad you guys made it out. Bet you didn't expect to get sucked into racing, and BOTH of you yet.

I could tell it will be memorable in a very good way. :)

Got to give some props for a few riders this weekend. Regina deserves a Big pat on the back for even attempting and clearing the amount of track she did. I stalled in the first 500' of the course as it entered the woods. Just passed were Shadd was taking samples of the Mora flora rose bushes, which lined pretty much the whole track. She passed me along with another trike. Soon after starting back at it I caught backup to them. 3Queen was standing over the bars looking down a washed out rutted rock marble descent. Rolling the front tire over the top lip, she was committed to the bottom. This was a no joke steep drop with massive washout ruts and loose marbles from the previous rounds of bikes and quads. The drop won't have been bad if it was a straight shot, but not the case. Just before the last of the down hill the trail twisted left just before an 8" maple tree. Right on the middle of the berm which the inside of the turn was cambered toward the tree. To say it was a rim/tire catch would be a perfect description. I myself, locked em' up and was gaining speed toward the maple on my descent. I tried to kick myself off and away from the tree with one leg off the peg. It worked as I didn't hook the tire but I did get my foot sucked up by the rear tire. Hyperextending my knee a bit set me up for 3 stalls mid to top hill climbs and a slew of stall outs. I struggled in the 80+ temps throughout the first lap. Not wanting to kill myself I pulled off and retired to the pits. Not long after Derrick pulled in having no rear brakes and a severe carb slide sticking issue. He said he basically had 1/4 throttle hill climbs and had to walk the machine down every steep hill...there were quite a few of them. WellsvillePro and Newcomer Phil350X showed what years of riding the Wellsville Ohio region can do for a Hare-scrambler. Them boys were right at home and show tremendous speed and tons of skill. Fred picking up his frist #1place finish and Phil grabbing 2nd in his second race ever. Great job you two!!! The vibe after the race was one of many collaborated stories of ruff sections and laughs. As tuff as it was I think everyone felt tested by the course and conditions. I'm looking forward to Smith, but won't be passing up on the next HS....Great group, nice to be able to consider them all competators as well as friends.

It was great to compaire Battle stories of each section. Finding out you weren't the only one to get struck on that vine, between the narrow trees by the hay field, Priceless. I think Lighting (track owner) enjoyed them as much too. As we packed up to head out, welcoming us back anytime to enjoy the property was given by Lighting. He said he just Loves the 3wheelers. I don't know who the guys/family were that lined the one hill climb but thanks for the cheers...It was one of the climbs the X made without stalling.
