Picked up this 85 250r. Runs good just needs a new exhaust gasket. Not sure what all the parts on it are. I know the silencer is just an old dg one but I'm not sure about the pipe, the bike has an answer sticker and a ct sticker on it so I'm guessing one of those? Has some kind of extended swingarm I think and the guy said he was told it is not a stock shock. Not sure if the carb is stock or not. The jug says Paul Turner on it which I have heard of but I won't act like I know what I'm talking about when it comes to liquid r's. The guy didn't know much about it so I don't know what's inside the motor or anything. If I could get some help putting names to some of these parts that would be appreciated.

Just realized I forgot to get a picture with the plastics and seat but they aren't cracked or anything and the seat, at least the cover was aftermarket and said highflite on it.

That is a DG pipe, I used to have the same one.

Definitely get a picture of the lower clamp. If this bike has a short track kit on it you may have scored big with this buy my friend!

Here is a few more pictures, let me know if you guys spot anything else out of the ordinary... Also anyone know anything about the "Paul Turner" cylinder. Rode this thing for the first time today, let me tell you having not ever ridden a 2 stroke or a twist throttle before it was scary! Thing absolutely screams and is by far the fastest wheeler I've ever ridden. Bought it because I got a good deal on it but not sure I'm going to keep it, it is way to over the top for any riding I do...

looks good man, def some great parts on her! Dont know if I missed it, but Im going to be rude and ask what you paid :D

all around a great looking rider. Prob go find another tank on there so you dont jack up the short track kit unless you're planning to track it. in which case go thrash that puppy!

The Keihin PJ carb came stock on the '86-later R's. Untouched they were 34mm. You may want to pull the carb and measure it to see for sure what size it is. It may have been bored.

Being that "Paul Turner" is inscribed on the cylinder, it is likely that cylinder has been ported by Paul Turner. I don't think they would do that for just standard machine work like cylinder boring and whatnot. Also, being that Paul Turner had their hands on it, it would be worth checking the head chamber capacity. It also may have been reworked for a high compression setup.

Some things you just can;t find out for sure without doing a little digging...

Nice score! :beer

very nice find looks like a race bike that they tried to make into a duner is the carb a pj 36 . That is a very nice cylinder also i think they are numbered somewhere you might be able to call duncan racing and see how it was ported if they kept records that far back .

Just curious, how do you know it's a 36 from the pic provided???

I dont no if its a 36 or not. If it is the motor is probably ported for very low end power thats the way they ran them back in the day for mx . it might just be missing the pipe. I think its a very old port job since it just says paul turner
