Had one as a kid, I missed the feeling of blasting around on a trike!! Can a guy still buy brake parts etc? How about the plastic? Thanks, Rod.

84 big reds?
They made tons of them so they are everywhere.

Brake parts at almost any honda shop and plastics are being reproduced.
Almost anything is avail on ebay but 3ww also has a classified section.

maier is the co that makes repro plastics.
any motorcycle shop can get you brake shoes for like 12 bucks.

Yeah, if you can handle ebay, anything you need will pop up for sure.

Sounds like I need to join ebay! Haha

Yea, if you cant find any you can get brand new repop ones from maier. Might be a little pricey but plastics usually are. My opinion anyways.

Yeah looks like close to a grand to my door but they look good!

Ghostv2

Wow, maybe you could find a parts bike and take them off that one for under a grand.

This is moose hunting territory, every one of them is rough. But this is a restoration project so I don't mind, one piece at a time! Haha

Well if your restoring it then your pretty much going to have to buy all new plastics. Separate mud flaps might be a little harder to get in nice condition. On ebay there is some cut out of the plastics with partial fenders still attached but getting them off nicely might be a chore.

84 200ES? Is it shaft or chain drive? If its a 200ES shaft drive the plastics are the hard part! Maier makes the front fender, but the rears are NLA... And nobody reproduces the mud flaps, been searching for about a year now for those. A lot of the parts are still available, hard parts, wear parts like brakes, cables, etc.. But a lot of the small parts and rear fender assembly are NOT.

Roddynow

Yes it's a 200es shaft drive, too bad nobody makes the one piece rear fender. Thanks for the info, my ignition cover is puking oil, must need a gasket.

It's a two piece fender originally and the repos that maier used to make were the two piece original type. Figures they quit making them! Which cover you talking about? If you mean up on the head, the little cover marked CDI, there is an oil seal behind the advancer on the camshaft, there is a rubber o-ring on the base as well as a gasket.

Or did you mean something else?

And if you need the manual, its on my server, link below..

Roddynow

Yes the cdi cover, I'll pull it apart and check them. I just snagged it off the classifieds, runs great otherwise. Tnx for the manual link!

Welcome!

Ok if its coming out from the weep hole below the wiring coming out of that cover its the oil seal on the camshaft. To fix it your going to need a new seal of course, and gasket for the base cause you will have to unbolt it and pull it to get the seal out. Make sure you don't loose that little camshaft pin that the advancer keys to, it just sits in the cam to run the advancer.

Not a hard job though... And before others say it, pics!!!! LOL

Thanks for the tip, I'm stuck building my fence this week but I'll order that seal and gasket! I never took a close look but that's probably it. Here's the cover and a pic, I'll try and patch it for the weekend! 170440Haha

If you keep your eyes open, you might find a trashed 200es with good fenders for 100 bucks.

I just got one with siezed engine, rotten tank, 3 flats, 4 inches of pine needles and ferns growing out of it for
150 but the fenders were usable and a few other things.

Your fenders don't look too bad.

Thats definitely the camshaft seal in the CDI base... Remove those philips screws and the cover, that cover has a gasket also but its mainly to keep water out of the advancer not oil in. Then remove the 10mm bolt from the advancer on the end of the cam, mark the location of the advancer pickup plate and remove the two philips screws holding it to the base. Pull off the advancer and the plate and then remove that little pin from the cam and set it all aside. Then unbolt the base, two 6mm bolts either side of it, then take a rubber mallet or such and gently tap it to loosen it and remove. There is a rubber o-ring around it that seals it as well as the gasket on the flange around it.

So you basically need two gaskets and a seal. The gaskets can be had in the top end gasket kit for around $20-$30 and the seal you can buy separate.

If you have trouble finding them let me know and i will dig up some links for you. Best source is eBay, Biker Chick Ltd has them and i have bought from them a dozen times or so now for rebuilds on 200's.

Thanks kb, I'll probably just get it torn down for a rebuild since it's that involved (and cause I turned the engine without marking the ignition!ha), she smokes pretty bad too. I'm just glad I found one, thanks for the parts links too guys!!

Ebay, the sites linked before, craigslist, on here, they are all over. Heck I have a machine that is in pretty poor shape that I might part out, plastics are about the same shape as yours though. Need any other hard to find parts?

A pretty common problem with these are the front forks, they get rusted out and come part over time. All of mine are worn beyond rebuild, and some came welded together.

I see big reds all the time too. Kijiji usually has at least one or two posted, most of the time.
