Hi there just wondering if anyone has had any experience with these new starter motors on ebay. How do they fair? I need a new one for my trike so just wondering if they are any good, would hate to pay the 70 dollar shipping fee to have it slag out on me. Maybe someone here has a new one for sale that can help me out? surely the shipping could not possibly be 70 dollars to Australia! Thanks for any help!

I have a really nice used OEM you could have for $50..plus shipping.
I tested it and know it good..also very little use. It came from a really low hour trike I bought..the PO had removed the head to repair a striped spark plug hole. Then left it sit in a barn..that was about 15 years ago. I have stripped a lot of good parts from the engine..the block is siezed beyond salvage.
I took a shot at shipping estimate with UPS..it was stupid though!! If you have any ideas on how to ship it.. we could get it done??

Hello
Yes the $70.00 is for 4 day delivery, slower shipping would be less.
Since according to Dougspcs the cost of shipping his appears to be high, if I were you I would go to an automotive alternator and/or starter repair or rebuilder shop and have it rebuilt. I have had many starters and alternators rebuilt this way. It will be cheaper in the end and will be high quality with a 1 year guarantee. It might cost you around $100.00-$120.00 Aussie Roo Bucks.
Second choice would be to call these guys below and grill them to find out if the starters they sell are made in the USA ,but for the price I doubt it. The Caltric ones are Chinese. They may be ok but I would never buy one then pay another $70.00 to get it.
DB Electrical Phone from Aus. 1-001-800-753-2242 Price $59.00, shipping to AUS $89.00 US

USPS Priority Flat Rate International, its $59.95 shipping for a Medium Flat Rate to Australia. I know this for a fact as i have shipped there before. UPS and FedEx are around $70, not sure if there is any cheaper method other than wrapping it up in a box and sending it regular mail, probably would take a month or so to show up though.. LOL
You can get rebuild kits for them on eBay for around $20-$30 and they would be cheaper to ship.

Thanks for the replies. Ill try call up a few starter motor places, see if they can do it for me. That may be a better route. If not, I may take you up on that oem offer. Thanks.
