Here's the thing. A friend of mine told me that he had a trike that he'd sell me for parts. He thought it was an 83 Honda ATC200E, just like mine. I went to look at it tonight, and it's not an 83 Big Red. It's actually an 84 Honda ATC 200M.

The 84 ATC200M has an outstanding looking frame and the front fork is in great condition. Those are two things that my 83 Big Red is lacking.

He'll part with it for $40. I'm obviously going to snag it. I want to know what's compatible between the two trikes, if anything at all.

Here is a few things that the trike needs.
- The recoil starter does not grab. Will the rip cord from my 83 big red bolt up? He said it ran and he was pretty sure the electric starter worked. It would be nice to see if it actually runs.
- It was run without a battery, so the voltage regulator is probably fried. Would the voltage regular from the 83 work?
- The rear sprocket is gone, the front one is missing a tooth, and there is no chain. I'm sure it would be safe to assume that front sprocket off the 83 big red won't bolt up to the 200M, but what about the rear sprocket and the drive chain.
- He said that one of the bearings in the rear end is bad. Would I be able to bolt my rear end to the 200M?

Thank-you, in advance, for any replies.

the 200m and 200e will swap out most if not all parts between them im 99% sure

The only differences are the front end, bottom end (hi/lo), seat pans (83 is metal) and stickers, but everything will swap out 100% from the two, so it's well worth the $40.00

So, my 83 200E motor will bolt right up the 84 200M? and line up correctly, too?

-Low range does not work in the big red, anyway, so I really won't be missing it. I'm not going to tugging anything crazy with it. For that, I have a truck. If I need something smaller, I can talk my dad and borrow his 750 4x4 quad.

- A plastic seat pan would be an upgrade. It would one less thing to rust out. I'll throw my plastic gas tank on it, and she'll be good to go.

- Stickers don't concern me. I'm not an art collector. I like to own things that I'm not afraid to use or put a scratch in it. Any stickers that are still there, which are very few, will be coming off.
