Just wondering if anyone on here has any experience with the 1980 Suzuki gs1000l. I am going to be looking at one tomarrow after work. I am very new to the bike scene but wanting a nice older bike. I had a 75 xs650 last summer it was a constant fight with that machine. Sat for around 20 years before I got it. When the right hand cylinder decided it was time to start burning oil I sold it. But anyways I'm just looking for the good the bad and common problems to look for.
Thanks

Those old 2 valve GS engines are rock solid. Achilles heel is the charging system.

Anything else is similar to looking at an old 3 wheeler - bearings, brakes, chain/sprockets (if it's not a shafty) cable, tank rust etc.
Also, like an ATC 70, they are very sensitive to intake/exhaust changes so if it's still stock make sure all the parts are there.
I do not fit the ergos of the L models but the engine is a sweetheart!
As I recall the 80 model has CDI and CV carbs.
