well at least i thought it was a 225, turns out its a 200er. bought for 220, didnt start and in brutal shape. fenders cut, hacked exhaust, bent handle bars, no air filter, rearend gone, leakin oil, off timing ( then chain busted and bent a vavle) no tailight, wires hacked, many missing parts, clutch crank bolts slacked, the list is endless and just goes on, so i finished er up ,got looking good and drivable. and im currently lookin for a bigger motor, got about 30 hours on er so far and loveing it.let me know if the pics dont work.

I like it, even the "mud flaps" on the rears don't look so bad, & they usually look hideous!

That looks like a 225.
Was a 200 engine dropped in a 225dx? I can't see exactly what motor it is through your pictures.

Nice job man, that turned out pretty good, nice DG

thanks, the dg is in rough shape but i fixed it up pretty decent. it is a 225dr bike, but the previous owner put in a 200er and didnt tell me about it.

Looks great. What did you do with the sky Blue plastics? If you plan to part with them, let me know.

that was paint , and they were fiberglassed at one point. i just painted em yellow , hated the blue and gold rims. just not a fan. im trying to find a full set but its not easy.

I know what you mean. I bought my set minus the tank plastic from YOT. Sure wish I had a super nice set of blue tank skins to go with my shiny front and rear. I'll keep my eye open for you, too.

just set up a deal for a 2001 250 bear tracker motor...from my understanding its identical to a timberwolf. no oil leaks but i dont know how it runs is the problem, guy said it was fine but we all know how that goes. i dont care ill rebuild if i have to. i got the full motor , headpipe , carb , throttle cable , little rubber boot that goes between motor and swingarm for 150, delivered. im happy with that

there are a few things you will need to get the beartracker motor to work.you will have to use you driveshaft and yokes, stater and flywheel all from the ytm225.

no worries about that i have the 225 complete and running and any available parts from the bear tracker.

well its a bad news ,good news, awesome news situation lol....bad news is he wouldnt sell me the parts i wanted, said he didnt wanna bother tearing it down. good news he sold me the whole bike for an additional 20$ lol. awesome news iv already sold some of the parts for 2/3's of what i paid for the bike.....motor has awesome compression..no tester but can feel it when im pulling, way beyond my 200er. valves are set dead on and no oil leaks anywhere. i dont think its ever been picked at. i do believe the e start even works....i got a gasket kit and tune up kit comming now. i think im gonna hang on to the gasket kit for future use. i dont wanna tear into the motor just yet. the universal is smooth as butter. the bike was complete minus the wheels. there were a couple bolts loosened but i had it stripped to bare frame in a little over 2 hours. all vital signs look good. cant wait until i can try it out....gonna check out the carb tomorrow.

well here she is freshly pulled, i kept the full harness, carb, filter, and a few other things, now for a clean up....the carb is really wierd on this, the butterfly in inside is on the throttle cable but the slide gate in the back operates on air pressue. as air comes into the carb faster and faster it opens the gate more. wierd.

That's a CV carb, 85+ Big Reds use them too IIRC, and I assume lots of other machines.

well the swap is done....not really any pics, its a striaght forward engine swap. i just transferred over the harness and main switch...pretty easy....but just because the motor bolts in the same dosent mean its simple. the carb was a whole different story. the flange mount angle boot from the 225 was no good and the flange and coupling from the bear tracker put the carb smack into the shock mount. so a little fabrication was needed there...i used the rubber hoses from the airbox inlet and outlet to make it work. i had to remove the airbox completely..no way to get it connected to the carb. so i made my own on the fly and it works great. electric start works great and the 225 regulator is charging nice. gained 14km/h on top end (76 to 90 gps on flat) and wayyyyy more bottom end.pulls real good and defiantly worthwhile investment. only have a couple pics will post tomorrow.

not much to see ...visually the same but has a vent hose on the cam cover. have a little oil leak on the cam cover ( one of the bolts broke ). moved the green switch to the dash (thats the ignition :D) haha. have some cleanup to do a little painted and desperately a new set of rear fenders. had to use the stock headpipe, has a pin hole i plugged with a hose clamp for the time being. the nice stainless bear tracker header wasnt close to fitting :(

if anyone else is up to this i somehow lucked into a yamaha service manual for the bear tracker. not much help but it has a good wire diagram....also found out that the ytm regulator wont work with the beartracker stator and i have to run on pure battery with no charging. this sucks because when the battery goes near dead the cdi dosent have much power for spark and i sputter past half throttle to the point it almost dies. so thats on the list now as well, i just plug in the battery charger over night now and it works. fine. on the up side i had my best top speed run last nite of 94 km/h . much more to my liking.
