tried a bearing puller on the outside of the flywheel, but no luck. whats a guy gotta do to get this off of here?
thanks for yo help!

Thats a problem for sure. Not sure how to deal with that.
You can try the bearing puller again and with a good amount of pressure on the flywheel, smack the end of the puller with a hammer. Sometimes the shock will break it free.

slip the correct puller were it would thread in and weld it to the flywheel ..... throw it all in the trash when your done removing it . Will cost you a 20.00 puller .

Also arent the plugs on the 85 R different from the 86 250r?
Im talking about the stator just to be clear

just got home from RND motorsports. cost me a $15 puller. no biggie. let the removal commence.

If that were mine, I'd grind 2 hex head bolts to just slip thru the outer holes you can see there and out of 1/2" flat stock I would drill 2 outer clearance holes and thread the middle hole for a ground pointed bolt to pull it off.
Thats just me and I have the tools and equipment/materials to do it fast.
IDK what that flywheels deal is but I see allot of people not threading them pullers in fully or oiling the center puller bolt....

After removal, everything is still useable.

Agreed with all. Guess I'm late to the party ..Like BKM said, get a gear puller on there, heat the crap out of the flywheel around the crankshaft AS YOU ARE COMFORTABLE. Don't wanna melt coils or crank seal. Put the nut on the crank almost flush and hammer it. This is unfortunately not at all uncommon for sleds.. Just be careful, you're smart enough not to bash things up. If no go,,which, I am 99.9999% THAT will work. Then yeah,,trash the puller lol. Usually like DC said, guys don't thread near far enough into the left hand threads for the puller and strip the crap out of them, but that one you have their is a certain kinda special !! Good luck.

Jonathan, the Cdi plugs are different from 85 to 86, but the stator plug is the same.

Thanks sir, knew it was something.

Ok update:
Mission accomplished BUT... Welding the puller to the flywheel didn't work. My booger welds were no match for the force it was going to take to remove that stubborn flywheel. I ended up using a bearing puller and torch to get it off. I hooked the puller around the flywheel and used the crank as the pressure point. It didn't want to come off. I used a torch to heat the flywheel plug area and smacked the end of the puller with a hammer. I had to smack, then tighten, smack and tighten. Heat, then tighten, then smack and it flew across the garage... But it was off and the only part damaged was the flywheel. Whew!

Never seen it happen on a R. But on sleds, especially Cat triples, The crank throws can and do lock together smacking too hard :). Never done it personally, but have cat dealer friends who have ... Glad you got it off !
