I got a bone stock tri z nothing on the wiring harness has been cut or spliced and I heard people say the temp light should come on for a few seconds right when you start up but mine does nothing so I checked the blub and it was separated from the bottom metal part put a new blub in still nothing? Has anybody ever had problems with the sensor not working or are they pretty dependable.

Mine has never worked. Never looked into it though.

The shop manual shows how to test the sensor I could scan the page if you need it but every tri z owner I could talk to around here (all 2 of them) said theirs has never worked but the shop manual says it should light up after three seconds I haven't had the time to fix mine yet.

Mine works exactly like Yamaha says it should. A few seconds after I fire the trike up the bulb glows for a few seconds and then goes out. I've never seen it come on to indicate overheating, but I assume it would if needed. Make sure you're not in direct sunlight when you test it or you might not see it.

My Z I had also would light up right away for a few then go off. Never owned mine long enough to see if it would over heat. Kept having problem after problem.

Make sure you have good connections and a new bulb. Some times it will light up even while your kicking it over trying to start it.
