Hey long time since i've posted but still rockin on 3 wheels!.. Lol I'm building a 84 200es, dont have wiring harness so im trying to wire it myself. I have a CDI box off i believe a 200 of some sort and im trying to make it work.
Its a round plug with 5 wires,
Blue/yellow
Black/red
Black/yellow
Black
Green
Now before i go and wire the whole bike i want to test everything, so my question is what do i have to wire where to get spark? The wiring digram shows green and blue/yellow both go to coil but i only have one connector on coil.. any help in the right direction would be awesome!

The ignition wiring is pretty easy on these, for spark you only need a few connections.

From the stator/source coil you have a Black/Red wire that goes to the CDI, from the pulse gen you have a Blue/Yellow and a Green, these also go to the CDI, the green is the ground as well. The coil has a Green on its mounting screw with a ring terminal, thats the ground from the CDI thats tied to the pulse gen and the stator/source coil grounds, all the greens are tied together in the harness before reaching the CDI. The other wire to the coil is a Black/Yellow that also goes to the CDI. The Black from the CDI is your kill wire, ground it to kill the ignition. The Gray wire is the reverse safety switch and it goes to the terminal on the motor by the sub-trans shifter lever.

If you want to just get spark for testing tie all the greens together, wire the pulse gen and stator/source coil outputs to the CDI, and the output from the CDI to the coil. That should give you spark if all the parts are good.

Those 200ES harness's show up on eBay pretty regular for decent prices, could always buy a used harness to toss on it, otherwise its not that hard to wire up. The alternator output and lighting, battery charging, electric start, is a whole other subject... LOL But still not that hard to do if you have all the parts and just missing the wiring.

If you need the service manual i have it on my server, link in my signature below... There is a picture in there of the CDI showing the pinout that should help you as well. Also if you plan on making a harness i suggest you go to the later square connector CDI, they are cheap, less than $10, and it will improve reliability. Most of us 200ES owners on here seem to have fought bad CDI's and swapped them. I did a full writeup on here on changing it out. A $5-$8 CDI from eBay and a plug and contacts and your in business and not tied to those hard to find round CDI's.
