Well I picked up another one. It wasn't the best purchase I've ever made, but honestly not too bad. It needs a ton of work. The kid I got it from thought it was in good condition until I enlightened him! It does have good compression and starts right up and the frame is incredibly straight, so perhaps it will be a future project.

Thanks guys. Maybe I'm just spoiled because I've been getting pretty good deals lately, but all in all it is in good shape...just not for the price he was asking. I ended up giving him half if his asking price.

So I took it for a little ride this morning and it does run pretty good and has good compression, but the powerband never kicks in. Right when you think the powerband should kick in it doesn't.

It falls flat or Revs out with no power?
I love these first gen 250rs They are so cool. Especially decked out in period race parts.

Nice score. Sad not to see that wide front tire though.

How much does a powerband cost? LOL (sorry couldn't resist)...... Perhaps needs new piston and rings. May feel like good compression at the kicker but once that pressure builds up with the revs there just may not be enough. I had the same issue with my "X". Started on first kick (every time) but when I rolled on the throttle it just wasn't there. Finally conceded and pulled it apart. Looks like the previous owner wasn't real adept at air filter cleaning. Had to splurge and do the piston and rings thing.
A couple years ago I looked at an '82. The kid wanted 350. Ir ran but was rough. (needed rear brake and the possibly a new axle). I offered him $300. He declined my offer. 2 days later he sold it to another guy for $280.... What a SCHMUCK! That guy took the motor out, put it in a gocart and trashed the chasis...... I am still kicking myself for not saving that thing.... over 50 lousy bucks!!!!!!!!

You beat me to it! Its got a first gen 200x front end on it. the forks and rim give it away. probably didnt have enough electricity skill to wire up the headlight  nice score on the airfooler

Actually I kinda like the "X" front end on it. I have always wanted a 1st generation and do that to it. I do wonder what seat/tank combo it has on it though!

the tank looks like the correct tank and the seat looks like a first gen 200x seat. 83?
