help with big red kicker

hi there i have a big red that when i start it the kicker ratchets . how do i get the gears to disengage . it seems the spring pushes the gears together . any help would be great , thanks

Not likely the gears..there is a one-way bearing inside that fails.

A bit of work, but not too tough..

The manual at this link you can download details it pretty well.. http://www.oscarmayer.net/atc/manuals/

You'll need the one-way gear, oil & filter, left side cover gasket..

Ya I just did mine . Replace the sprague bearing under the centrifugal clutch. Make sure the washer is on the outside where it say outside. I also had to do the one behind the stator for the electric start.This might help a lil also.
