Honda 250r Intake manifold questions

Hi everyone.

To start off I bought an '82 Honda ATC 250r. The throttle was in pretty bad shape but it runs like a champ. So I was looking on Ebay for a replacement throttle and by the looks of them most of the ones from the first gen 250r are in pretty bad shape as well. So I purchased an '86 throttle with the cable and carb.

The problem is the throttle cable for an '86 wont fit on the '82 carb. I don't want to brake the cap for the '86 carb to get the cable out and then try to Jerry Rig the thing together.

So my over all question is, does the intake manifold for an '86 fit on the head of an '82. I'm willing to update the manifold and put on the larger carb if it will fit.

Anyone out there with any input would be appreciated.

You can use the 82 manifold on the 86 carb with some stretching. Usually boil it or use a heat gun. I've heard the 86 manifold will bolt on but you need to add a spacer. Nice performance upgrade aswell.
