I dont think but im no big red expert. Seats the wrong color too unless its been recovered.

No,the starter gear reduction cover is "tear" shaped on 87,this one is oval shaped.

At least its an 85 motor. The only way to know is check the VIN

am i correct in thinking that the tank decal is not 85?

Exactly what Flying said, and another way to check (assuming the rear axle is correct) would be the rear brake guard. I believe only 86-87 models have them.
