Hello 3WW people,

I rode trikes lots when I was a kid in the 80s. mostly Big Red 200s and 250s. Then we got a Kawasaki 4x4 which i thought was awesome.
I got kids now and im trying to give them some outdoor fun. My brother found a Big Red 200es in good shape for $350 this spring and fixed it up to make it run up and down the mountain at my acreage in BC. So not wanting to out-do him too bad I found a nice YTM 200 for $600 by Edmonton. It had a bogging issue that gave me some grief immediately but I sorted that out when I found a crushed/melted vent line tube going to the carb. now it runs great. It needed some TLC so I got to work on the plastics which had been painted terribly, just put on some factory decals and some odds and ends but this is turning into a great Trike. Never rode a Yamaha before this one but its great!! Wheelies like nothing and sits a little taller than the Big Reds. Feels "sportier" than a Big Red too, but parts seem alot harder to find. Anyway Im gonna rebuild the forks and I came across this site doing a web search. I'll be on here for quite sometime I imagine. The trike has become a fun little project for me. I'd love to buy a brand new Can-Am Outlander but seriously for $12000 and up they are way too much quad for what I need. These trikes, especially the utility trikes can go damn near anywhere a quad can and they are so affordable if you can find one in good shape. This seems like a great site. See you guys around!

welcome to the boards! Did you build that little foam pad for the rack? Thats actually a cool idea, like a bike seat for that passenger we dont talk about having on the back for legal reasons lol Good looking Yami

What part of Alberta are you from? You have an acreage in B.C. too? I'm on Vancouver Island. Welcome to the site!

I'm living in High Level AB, working in Aviation up here in the frozen north country. My Acreage is SW of penticton and under development, planning on moving there when we get our house built. I love the Okanagan. I've got a 600 Kawasaki which I've had for 6 years but the riding in Northern Alberta SUCKS!!! Off roading is something easy to do up here and I've got a little boy now and I want to get him into quads/dirt bikes. Figured this was a good way to go by getting this trike. We always rode Big Reds when I was a kid. I put some work into this trike already. The foam pad I got off eBay. Shock boots, rebuilt the shocks, brakes, oil change, paint stripped and polished the plastics. Added factory stickers. It starts and runs great

All that work and a couple days ago I rolled the thing as I was coming home from a ride. I was saying to my GF how trikes are safe if you ride them respectfully and take it easy. Well I was clipping through the dith next to highway 35 and hit a large dip in the trail. Tossed me off the trike and the trike rolled over behind me. Messed up my shoulder pretty bad and bent the rear rack and the forks.... FML. So I got some MORE work to do now lol. Looking for replacement parts on eBay while my shoulder is healing. Funny thing is I fly Medevac planes and I've flown dozens of people out for quad roll overs . Stupid stupid move on my part. So if any of you guys know where I can find quality parts for my trike please let me know!

The back seat came with the trike when I bought it. I really like it too. It's great for the rear passenger when I have one.

Yeah it was just being inexperienced on the trail. Maybe if it had any rear suspension I would have been able to ride it out but.... Yep I'm not giving up on the thing, trikes are too much fun. I got a used rear rack on the way already. It bent the front wheel around too but I have almost got that sorted out. Luckily I didn't break my shoulder just bruised it up pretty bad and pulled some tendons but I'm healing up fast. Sure friggin hurt!! I guess I'm not as young as I used to be.

welcome, I live over In B.C. Nice yamaha i love it. I've got a 225 dx in good shape but not as shiny as yours. so far its very reliable its already towed my honda 200 home a few times (poor old girl had a rough life). I also love the okanagen, I spent a summer down there and had some of the best times of my life, one day plan on retiring down there, only about 30 more years left.
